CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2026-27 FAQs

What is the weightage of Competency-Based Questions in the 2027 exam?

CBSE has increased the weightage of competency-focused questions (Case-based, Source-based, and Assertion-Reasoning) to 50% of the total paper.

Is it enough to study only from the NCERT textbook?

NCERT is the most important resource for building strong concepts, but it is not enough for high scores. You should also practice NCERT Exemplar and Previous Year Questions (PYQs) to understand different ways questions can be asked.

Are there any deleted topics for the 2027 academic year?

Yes, CBSE and NCERT have reduced the syllabus. For example, in Maths, topics like Cross-Multiplication Method and Completing the Square have been removed.

How many marks are required to pass the Class 10 Board Exam?

You must score a minimum of 33% in each subject. This 33% is calculated as a combined total of your Internal Assessment (20 marks) and the Theory Paper (80 marks).

How should I manage time during the 3-hour exam?

Spend the first 15 minutes of reading time identifying the Case-Study questions. Aim to finish Section A (MCQs) in 30 minutes, Section B and C in 60 minutes, and leave at least 20 minutes at the end for re-checking and drawing neat diagrams in Science and Math.
