
The CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2026 have introduced a revised structure under the CBSE Two-Board Exam Policy 2026, allowing students a second chance through Phase 2 Board Exams.
This initiative aims to reduce stress and allow students to improve their marks without repeating the academic year.
The CBSE Class 10 Second Exam System 2026 allows students to reappear in selected subjects after the main board exam.
The first board exam is mandatory
The second exam (Phase 2) is optional
Improvement allowed in a maximum of 3 subjects
Internal assessment marks cannot be improved
As per the updated schedule, the Phase 2 exams will be conducted from:
Start Date: May 15, 2026
Last Date: June 1, 2026
May 15: Mathematics (Standard & Basic)
May 19: Science
May 22: Social Science
May 26 & 30: Language Papers
Other dates: Compartment exams
Eligibility under the CBSE Two-Board Exam Policy 2026 has been clearly defined.
Must have appeared in the first board exam
Can improve marks in up to 3 subjects:
Mathematics
Science
Social Science
Languages
Students who:
Passed but want improvement
Are in compartment category
Appearing for first/third chance compartment
Want improvement using 6th subject replacement
Sports students (with prior approval)
Students absent in 3 or more subjects
Students under Essential Repeat (ER) category
Those who did not appear in the main exam
Also, subject change is not allowed (except special cases like Maths).
The List of Candidates (LOC) submission is compulsory for Phase 2 exams.
Schools will register students through LOC
Must be submitted after result declaration
Includes:
Number of students appearing
Subjects chosen for improvement
Students cannot apply directly — applications go through schools.

Explain LOC submission and fee process
