CBSE Class 12th Grace Marks 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has kept the provision regarding the CBSE Class 12th Grace Marks 2026. Students who need around 1 to 2 marks to pass the Class 12th exam to meet the passing marks criteria of 33% in aggregate and overall. Then, CBSE provides them with the grace marks. Students are able to pass the exam, and there is no need to appear in the compartment examination.
Students need to secure 33% marks in aggregate subject-wise and overall in the CBSE Class 12 examination. Any student narrowly misses the pass mark criteria by 1 to 2 marks. In that case, CBSE provides grace marks to the students. It depends on the situations if any paper is extremely difficult. Questions asked in the exam are out of the syllabus. CBSE can announce the grace marks to be awarded to the students.
The board follows a strict set of rules for giving these marks.
Small Margin: Grace marks are usually only given if a student is failing by a very small gap, like 1 or 2 marks.
Board Decision: The board decides who gets these marks. A student cannot ask for them as a right.
Hard Papers: If a question paper is very difficult or has mistakes, the board may give marks to every student who tried those questions.
No Unfair Means: A student who used the wrong methods to write the exam will not get any grace marks.

To pass the Class 12 exams, every student must follow these simple rules:
The 33% Rule: A student must get at least 33% marks in every subject.
Separate Passing: In subjects with practicals (like Physics or Chemistry), a student must pass the theory exam and the practical exam separately. This means getting 33% in both parts.
Aggregate Score: The total marks (theory + practical) must also be at least 33% for that subject. for detailed read more
