CBSE Introduces On-Screen Marking For Class 12 Board Exams 2026 Notice
The new on-screen marking system introduces several key changes to the Class 12 board exam evaluation process. These features are designed to modernise assessment and improve its reliability.
Digital Evaluation: Class 12 board exam answer sheets will be evaluated digitally via on-screen marking (OSM) starting in 2026.
Error Reduction: The system is specifically designed to eliminate common totalling errors in evaluations.
Streamlined Process: This initiative aims to significantly streamline and speed up the entire evaluation process.
Teacher Participation: It allows for broader participation from teachers, enabling them to assess answer scripts digitally from their respective schools. This eliminates the need for travel to examination centers.
Class 10 Evaluation: For the year 2026, Class 10 answer sheets will continue to be evaluated through the traditional physical method.
The implementation of on-screen marking offers numerous advantages for the examination system. These benefits extend to operational efficiency and broader involvement in the evaluation process.
Time and Cost Savings: Adopting on-screen marking will lead to substantial savings in both time and costs. This is primarily due to reduced transportation needs for answer books.
Reduced Manpower: The digital system minimizes the manpower required for post-result verification tasks.
Wider Involvement: It creates an opportunity for all affiliated schools and their teaching staff worldwide to contribute to the crucial evaluation process. This fosters a more inclusive assessment environment.
For the smooth and effective implementation of on-screen marking, affiliated schools must meet specific infrastructure criteria. These requirements ensure that schools are equipped to handle the digital evaluation process.
Computer Lab: Schools need a dedicated computer lab. This lab must have a public static IP, in line with affiliation bye-laws.
Hardware Specifications: Computers or laptops must run Windows 8 or a newer version. They should have at least 4 GB RAM and sufficient free storage space.
Software: Updated internet browsers and Adobe Reader software are essential for accessing and evaluating scripts.
Connectivity: Reliable internet connectivity is mandatory, with a minimum speed of 2 Mbps.
Power Supply: An uninterrupted power supply is required to ensure continuous evaluation operations.
CBSE is committed to supporting teachers during this transition to the new on-screen marking system. Comprehensive support and training programs will be provided to familiarize educators with the new process.
System Familiarization: Teachers with OASIS IDs will receive access to log in and become familiar with the new evaluation system.
Training Programs: The board will conduct multiple dry runs and organize thorough training programs for all evaluators.
Issue Resolution: A dedicated call centre will be established to provide assistance and resolve any issues faced by teachers.
Instructional Videos: Informative instructional videos will be released to guide teachers through the new digital evaluation process.
Detailed Instructions: Specific and detailed instructions for each activity will be issued separately to all stakeholders, ensuring timely action and understanding.
