Oleum Gas Characteristics:

Oleum gas is primarily linked to Sulphur and is also known as Fuming Sulphuric Acid. It is a chemical combination of Sulphur Trioxide (SO₃) and Sulphuric Acid (H₂SO₄), represented by the chemical formula H₂SO₄.xSO₃. Oleum is hazardous; upon contact with air, it releases dense fumes, causing suffocation and potential health problems. When Oleum burns, it releases Sulphur Dioxide.

Raisina Dialogue 2026

The Raisina Dialogue is an annual conference held in Delhi. Named after the Raisina Hills, part of the Aravalli Range and home to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the 11th edition is scheduled for March 5-7, 2026. 

It is co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation, with its first edition held in 2016.

First Female Head of Central Jail Srinagar

Saba Shol has been appointed as the first woman head of the Central Jail Srinagar. This marks a significant milestone as she is the first female to hold this position in Jammu & Kashmir.

She qualified for the role through the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) exam in 2012. 

Jammu & Kashmir became a Union Territory on October 31, 2019, following the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5 of the same year.

LIGO India Facility in Maharashtra

The LIGO India facility, a major scientific project, is currently under development by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in Hingoli, Maharashtra. 

Its primary purpose is to study gravitational waves. The infrastructure will include an 8-kilometer-long vacuum beam tube. 

The project is estimated to cost approximately ₹2600 crore and is expected to be completed within 48 months. LIGO stands for Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory.

World Wildlife Day

World Wildlife Day is celebrated annually on March 3. First observed in 2013, it is organized by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). 

CITES focuses on the conservation and control of international trade in endangered species.
