Candidates can follow these steps to find the merit list for their postal circle:
Visit the official India Post GDS portal.
Open the results or shortlisted-candidates section.
Select the relevant recruitment schedule, such as Schedule-I, January 2026.
Find the merit-list link for the required postal circle.
Open the PDF and use the search function to locate your registration number.
Download the PDF and save a copy for future reference.
Candidates should use the official portal to verify their selection status. Avoid websites that ask for payment or sensitive personal information to reveal merit-list details.
The merit-list PDF may contain details such as:
Registration number of the shortlisted candidate
Postal circle and division
Post office or allotted post details
Post name, such as BPM, ABPM or Dak Sevak
Category and marks or percentage used for shortlisting
Instructions and deadline for document verification
Candidates should carefully check their registration number and the instructions mentioned in the relevant PDF. The document-verification deadline may differ by merit list and postal circle.
India Post prepares a system-generated merit list based on marks obtained in the Class 10 Secondary School Examination from a recognised board. Where applicable, grades or points are converted into marks according to the recruitment notification. The percentage is calculated to four decimal places.
There is no written examination or interview for this GDS selection process. However, appearing in the merit list does not automatically guarantee final engagement. Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements and complete document verification successfully.
Candidates shortlisted in the merit list should follow the instructions issued by the Department of Posts.
1. Check the verification instructions: Read the PDF carefully to identify the designated divisional office and reporting deadline.
2. Arrange the required documents: Keep original certificates and the required photocopies ready. The exact document requirements should be checked in the official instructions.
3. Attend document verification: Report to the designated office within the prescribed period. Missing the deadline or failing verification may affect candidature.
4. Wait for further communication: Follow official instructions regarding the next stage of engagement. Shortlisting alone should not be treated as a final appointment.
