With the SSC MTS 2026 exams starting on February 4, 2026, candidates are flooding search engines with one major concern: "What should I wear to the exam centre?" The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) maintains a very strict policy regarding attire to prevent cheating and ensure smooth security frisking. Since this year’s exam is being held in February, many students are confused about balancing the cold weather with the "No Full Sleeves" rule.
Here is everything you need to know about the SSC MTS 2026 Dress Code to ensure you aren't barred at the entry gate.
The guiding principle for SSC exams is: "Keep it simple and light." Anything that could hide small chits, electronic devices, or Bluetooth pieces is strictly prohibited.
No Full Sleeves: Candidates are strictly advised to wear half-sleeve shirts, T-shirts, or kurtas.
Small Buttons Only: Avoid clothes with large, decorative, or metallic buttons.
Simple Pockets: Do not wear cargo pants or trousers with multiple "hidden" pockets.
Footwear: Wear open footwear like slippers or sandals with thin soles. Shoes with thick soles or high heels are generally not allowed and you may be asked to remove them.
Top Wear: Opt for a plain half-sleeve T-shirt or shirt. Avoid hoodies, sweatshirts, or jackets.
Bottom Wear: Simple trousers or jeans. Avoid belts with large metallic buckles; if possible, avoid wearing a belt altogether.
Accessories: No watches (digital or analog), bracelets, or rings.
Top Wear: Half-sleeve Kurtis or tops are recommended. Avoid clothes with heavy embroidery, sequins, or metal work.
Bottom Wear: Salwars, leggings, or plain trousers.
Jewelry: This is the most common reason for delays. Strictly avoid earrings, nose pins, bangles, necklaces, or anklets.
Hair: Use simple rubber bands. Avoid fancy metallic hair clips or bands.
Since the exam is in February, many regions in India will be cold.
Official Stance: SSC guidelines usually do not change for winter. However, security staff may allow a simple sweater/cardigan only during the initial entry, but you might be asked to remove it for thorough frisking.
Pro Tip: Wear a simple, thin sweater without any metallic zips or large buttons. Layers are better than one heavy jacket.
Beyond clothes, ensure these items stay out of the exam hall:
Electronics: Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and Bluetooth devices.
Stationery: You don't need to bring pens; the board provides them inside.
Bags & Wallets: There is often no safe storage at centers. Avoid carrying large bags or expensive wallets.
Before you leave for your shift, ensure you have:
Printed SSC MTS Admit Card 2026
Two Passport Size Photos (same as the application)
Original Photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, or Voter ID) with a matching Date of Birth.
Note: If your ID does not have your full Date of Birth (DD/MM/YYYY), carry your 10th Class Marksheet as additional proof.
