JKBOSE Class 12 Biology Syllabus 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) released the syllabus for Class 12th board examination to allow students to understand the exam pattern for effective preparation.

Biology is an optionl subject in Group V of the syllabus. Students who want to prepare for competitive exams like NEET must understand the question types asked in both board and entrance exams. The JKBOSE syllabus is aligned with NCERT, which forms the base for NEET. This makes it important for students to focus on conceptual clarity, diagrams, and application-based questions.

The JKBOSE Class 12 Biology syllabus 2025 is divided into two sections– Botany and Zoology, each carrying 35 marks in theory. The syllabus not only focuses on understanding the concepts but also focus on practical knowledge but including a 30-mark practical exam which is based on experiments, viva-voce, and record keeping. 

The syllabus includes the subject combination which students must attentively analyze and choose the subjects based on their interest and career goals.

JKBOSE Class 12 Exam Pattern tells about the division of the marks in two categories– Section A and Section B. Section B focuses on Zoology and includes topics like Biotechnology and its Applications.

The JKBOSE Class 12 Biology syllabus 2025 marking scheme allows students to malaise the high weightage units and focus on them to score well. The Biology subject is divided into Zoology and Botany, giving importance to key concepts like Ecology and Environment and Genetics and Evolution. 

Students must prioritize topics on the basis of the marking scheme and gives more time to difficult topics. They must also analyze the previous years’ papers to check the exam trends and the topics that are frequently repeated. 

The Practical assessment carries 30 marks including internal and external assessment. The internal assessment carries 10 marks and in the syllabus a list of experiments and observation tests are included for the external assessment.

Students must refer to the books prescribed by the JKBOSE board. The JKBOSE board follows the NCERT curriculum. The book mentioned in the syllabus is A textbook of Biology for Class XII published by NCERT, New Delhi. This book provides a deeper understanding of concepts and it is a primary reference book which includes both theoretical and practical knowledge. 

Students must go through each chapter and pay attention to the diagrams, definitions and topics included in the chapter. The questions in the JKBOSE board exams appear from the NCERT only.

With the NCERT books, students must also refer to the supplementary books like sample papers and previous years’ papers to understand the question types and the exam pattern.

• The JKBOSE Class 12 Biology Syllabus 2025 allows students to focus on high weightage units like Ecology and Environment (12 marks), Genetics and Evolution (12 marks), and Reproduction in Animals (11 marks). Students must give importance to these units to score well in the board exams.

• Understanding the Class 12th Biology is important for students who want to prepare for NEET. Students must understand the topics such as Mendelian genetics, ecological interactions, and biotechnological applications through diagrams and real-life examples.

• Diagrams are important in Biology as they are highly scoring. Students must practice well labelled diagrams for topics such as reproductive system, DNA structure, and ecosystem models.

• It is important to focus on time management as answers are lengthy. Students must practice beforehand and decide the time to be dedicated to each question. They must also reserve the last 15 minutes for revision. 

• Students must give equal attention to Botany and Zoology as they both carry 35 marks each. Separate notes of each unit must be made and practiced through previous years’ papers.
