Class 9 RBSE Syllabus 2025-26 for English is divided into four key sections, i.e., Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Textbook and Supplementary Reader. Each section is designed to test different skills such as comprehension, expression, grammar usage, and literary understanding.

1. Reading: This section helps students build reading comprehension, vocabulary skills, and the ability to interpret unseen texts effectively.

• Two unseen passages for comprehension (around 400 words in total).

• Passage 1: Multiple Choice Questions including vocabulary (similar/ opposite words).

2. Writing: Writing tasks improve expression, creativity, and the ability to structure thoughts clearly for different real-life and academic purposes.

• Letter Writing: Informal (personal), Formal (editor/principal), Email (formal).

• Short Paragraph: Speech or debate type (based on outline).

3. Grammar: Grammar ensures accuracy and fluency in language by strengthening sentence construction and usage of core grammatical concepts.

• Multiple choice, fill in the blanks, and very short answer type questions.

4. Textbook & Supplementary Reader: Prose develops analytical reading, understanding of themes, and appreciation of character-building stories. Poetry nurtures creativity, imagination, and the ability to interpret literary expressions and deeper meanings. The supplementary reader enhances critical thinking by exploring human values, life situations, and moral lessons through stories.

Prose – Beehive

• One passage from the textbook for comprehension.

• Short answer type questions.

• One long answer type question (interpretation, themes, ideas).

• Questions from drama text (local and global comprehension).

Poetry – Beehive

• Extract-based questions from poems for comprehension and appreciation.

• Short answer questions on themes and ideas.

• One long answer type question on interpretation of poems.

Supplementary Reader – Moments

• Long answer questions regarding character, plot, or situations in the lessons.

• Short answer type questions.

• Multiple choice questions testing factual aspects of lessons.
