  • Assistant Director under Social Welfare requires graduation in Sociology, Psychology, Home Science, or Labour and Social Welfare.

  • Assistant Director under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare requires a graduation in any discipline.

Candidates should check the educational qualification prescribed for their preferred post before applying, as some services require graduation in specific subjects in addition to a recognised bachelor's degree. 

Age Limit

The Preliminary Examination serves as a screening test, and its marks are not considered while preparing the final merit list. Only candidates who qualify this stage are eligible to appear for the Main Examination. 

Main Examination Pattern

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination can appear for the Main Examination. The Main Examination is descriptive in nature. It includes compulsory papers and one optional subject selected by the candidate.

The compulsory papers are:

  • General Studies Paper II

  • Essay

BPSC 72nd Syllabus 2026

The BPSC 72nd Syllabus 2026 is divided into the Preliminary Examination and the Main Examination. While the Preliminary Exam tests candidates on general awareness and aptitude through objective questions, the Main Examination evaluates descriptive writing, analytical ability, and subject knowledge. The BPSC 72nd Notification 2026 prescribes a three-stage BPSC Selection process.

  1. Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is qualifying in nature. Candidates who clear it become eligible for the Main Examination. The final merit is prepared after completion of the Main Examination and Interview as per the Commission's rules.

BPSC 72nd Medical Standards 

Candidates selected through the recruitment process must undergo a medical examination conducted by the Medical Board. The examination includes physical measurements, vision standards, hearing ability, and overall health assessment to determine fitness for government service. 

Height and Chest Measurement

The candidate's height will be measured without shoes while standing straight with heels together. The body should remain in a natural position during the measurement. Chest measurement will be taken both in the normal position and after full expansion.

The Medical Board may exercise discretion while evaluating candidates belonging to tribal and semi-tribal areas.

Weight Measurement

The candidate's weight will be recorded in kilograms during the medical examination.

Vision Standards

The Medical Board will examine both distant vision and near vision separately for each eye. Vision testing will include:

  • Distant vision

  • Field of vision

  • Eye abnormalities

  • Requirement of corrective lenses

Candidates with serious eye disorders may be declared medically unfit. The prescribed minimum visual standards are:

Additional Medical Examination

  • Varicose veins and related conditions

  • Proper development of limbs

  • Joint movement
