The Odisha High Court has cancelled the Main Written Examination held on 13 July 2025 after finding major lapses in the way the contracted agency conducted the test. The decision, linked to Advertisement No. 02/2024, resets the entire recruitment process for all 7,113 candidates who had earlier cleared the Preliminary Examination.
The Court noted that the Main Exam showed procedural issues serious enough to call the integrity of the evaluation into question. The Bench stated that the cancellation was necessary to uphold fairness in public recruitment and made it clear that such irregularities cannot be permitted in government examinations.
A fresh Main Written Examination has been ordered for 7 December 2025 (Sunday) for every candidate who qualified the Preliminary Examination held on 4 May 2025, as stated in Notice No. 9231 dated 16 May 2025. The retest will be conducted in three consecutive sittings, covering English, General Awareness with Reasoning, and Mathematics on the same day. The move marks a rare and firm judicial response toward outsourced exam-conducting agencies, an area repeatedly criticised for operational faults in several states.
The ruling is expected to push recruitment authorities to introduce stricter monitoring and stronger accountability measures. For the 7,113 candidates, the decision means a complete restart of preparation with less than a month before the new exam date. At the same time, the judgment ensures that no selection is made on the basis of an examination the Court found unreliable. Authorities have been directed to conduct the December examination with reinforced supervision.
