  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), or

  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks + Diploma in Special Education, or

  • Graduation with 50% marks + Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

  • Final-Year Candidates are eligible to apply.

  • For CTET Paper 2 (Classes VI–VIII) - Upper Primary Teacher:

  • Graduation + B.Ed, or

  • Graduation with 45% marks + B.Ed (as per NCTE norms), or

  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed, or

  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks + B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, or

  • Graduation with 50% marks + B.Ed (Special Education).

CTET Sep 2026 Selection Process

The selection for CTET Sep 2026 is based solely on a national-level eligibility examination conducted by CBSE. There are two papers, Paper I for primary teachers and Paper II for upper primary teachers, and candidates can opt for either or both.

Written Examination: The CTET exam consists of two papers:

  • Paper I: Designed for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V.

  • Paper II: Designed for candidates aspiring to teach Classes VI to VIII.

Both papers are conducted in offline (OMR-based) mode, featuring Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each paper comprises 150 questions for a total of 150 marks, with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. There is no negative marking, and each correct answer fetches 1 mark. The exam is offered in 27 languages.
