HP TET Eligibility 2026: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has released the HP TET November 2026 Prospectus with the eligibility conditions for different TET categories. Candidates must fulfil the prescribed educational and professional qualification requirements before applying for the examination. HP TET Eligibility 2026 varies according to the teaching subject or category selected by the candidate. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed educational qualification and professional qualification requirements for the respective TET category.
The official HPBOSE prospectus states that there is no upper age limit for appearing in HP TET. The age criteria applicable at the time of appointment are to be considered by the appointing authority according to the relevant Recruitment & Promotion (R&P) Rules.

HP TET Age Limit 2026
There is no upper age limit for appearing in HP TET 2026. The official HPBOSE prospectus states that the age criteria are to be considered by the appointing authority at the time of appointment as per the applicable Recruitment & Promotion Rules.
Therefore, candidates should not consider 18 years as a prescribed minimum age for HP TET based on the November 2026 prospectus. The previous version of this page mentioned an 18-year minimum age, but this requirement is not stated in the current official prospectus.

HP TET Eligibility for TGT Arts 2026
Candidates can fulfil the TGT Arts eligibility through any of the qualification routes prescribed by HPBOSE:

The official prospectus also notes that for TGT Arts, Medical, Non-Medical, Hindi and Sanskrit, the minimum percentage requirement in Graduation does not apply to incumbents who had already taken admission to B.Ed., B.El.Ed. or an equivalent course before 29 July 2011.

The prospectus also states that Adeeb-Kamil from Jamia Urdu Aligarh is considered equivalent to B.A. with Urdu, while Moallim-e-Urdu from Jamia Urdu Aligarh is considered equivalent to B.Ed. for teaching Urdu, subject to the conditions specified by HPBOSE.
The prospectus further specifies the Urdu Language Teacher TET requirement and provides conditions for candidates who have already qualified the HP TET conducted by HPBOSE.
HP TET Eligibility for Special Educator TET: Pre-Primary to Class V
Candidates applying for Special Educator TET for Pre-Primary to Class V must meet one of the following routes:

HP TET Eligibility for Special Educator TET: Class VI to XII
Candidates applying for Special Educator TET for Class VI to XII must fulfil one of the following routes:

HP TET Eligibility Relaxation 2026
HPBOSE provides relaxation in the minimum educational qualification for eligible reserved-category candidates. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PHH categories of Himachal Pradesh are eligible for up to 5% relaxation in the minimum educational qualification. The prospectus also provides up to 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks for TET.
Candidates pursuing a teacher education programme in the final year, where the programme is recognized by NCTE or RCI as applicable and covered under the specified notification, are also eligible to appear in the TET examination.
All professional qualifications, diplomas, degrees and certificates used to satisfy the minimum eligibility conditions must have the required recognition from the relevant authority. HPBOSE specifically refers candidates to NCTE for recognized teacher education institutions/courses and RCI for approved rehabilitation-related programmes.
HP TET Domicile 2026
The HP TET November 2026 Prospectus does not state that Himachal Pradesh domicile is a general eligibility requirement for appearing in the TET.
The application form does, however, ask candidates to indicate whether they are Bonafide Himachali, and reservation benefits are subject to the applicable category and certificate requirements. Candidates seeking reservation benefits must ensure that they are eligible under the prescribed rules and possess the required certificates.
Therefore, the earlier statement that every HP TET candidate must be a Himachal Pradesh resident should not be retained as a general eligibility condition.
HP TET Maximum Attempts 2026
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for acquiring an HP TET certificate. Candidates who have already qualified TET may also appear again to improve their score. The HP TET qualifying certificate is valid for lifetime for all categories.
