The 2025 KVS and NVS recruitment drive marks a major shift with a unified online application process for over 14,000 vacancies, including a new Assistant Commissioner (Academics) post in NVS. It introduces a rigorous two-tier computer-based exam emphasizing merit with 85% weightage to the main test, alongside revised fees and explicit reservation policies for PwBD and other categories. KVS and NVS Recruitment Unified in 2025

For the first time, CBSE is conducting a joint recruitment drive for both KVS and NVS. Candidates will be selected through a single merit list and allotted only one post based on their preferences and exam performance. This unified system ensures fairness, transparency, and clarity throughout the selection process.

Two-Tier Exam System

KVS 2025 introduces a two-stage examination process for most posts:

Tier 1: Preliminary/Qualifying Exam

  • Mode: Objective (OMR-based)

  • Duration: 2 hours

  • Marks: Vary by post

  • Negative Marking: –1 per wrong answer

  • Purpose: Qualifying only; selects candidates for Tier 2 in a 1:10 ratio

Tier 2: Main Exam

  • Mode: Combination of Objective + Descriptive

  • Duration: 2.5 hours

  • Total Marks: 100 (60 objective, 40 descriptive)

  • Medium: Hindi & English (or respective language for MIL posts)

  • Negative Marking: 0.25 for each wrong objective answer

  • Purpose: Tests subject knowledge, problem-solving skills, and professional understanding

Final Merit Weightage:

  • Tier 2 Exam: 85%

  • Interview / Skill Test: 15%

This makes the written exam the most crucial factor in selection.

The KVS Recruitment 2025 (Notification 01/2025) has updated the application fee for all posts. The exam fees have increased for many posts, and a new processing fee of ₹500 has been added for all candidates, including SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen, who were previously fully exempted.
