OTET Eligibility 2025: Age Limit And Educational Qualifications

OTET Eligibility 2025 requires candidates to have passed Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or related qualifications for Paper-I (Classes I-V). For Paper-II (Classes VI-VIII), candidates must hold a graduation degree with at least 50% marks and a 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or equivalent recognized qualifications.

OTET Eligibility 2025

Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2025 is a state-level test that is administered by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE) to certify individuals to teach in government-recognised primary and upper primary schools in Odisha. It is in two papers: Primary level teachers (Classes 1 to 5) Paper 1 and upper primary level teachers (Classes 6 to 8) Paper 2.

OTET 2025 test is an annual test, and applications can be made between November 12 and November 25, 2025, and the test is planned to be held on December 17, 2025.

OTET Eligibility Criteria 2025

 A candidate should meet some criteria before registering to take the exam of OTET exam to guarantee the validity of candidature. These criteria are nationality, age and educational qualifications. The candidate must be an Indian citizen residing at Odisha. There is no specification as to the upper age limit but applicants are expected to achieve the necessary standards of education according to the paper selected. 

OTET Age Limit

 No strict age limit exists on the age to the OTET 2025, and thus the aspirants of different ages could apply. The age limit is 18 years on average. Some reserved groups like SC/ST, women, persons with disabilities and former military personnel can also have applicable relaxations of age according to the state government standards.

  • OR Higher Secondary with 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

Eligibility for Paper-II (Upper Primary Teachers, Classes VI-VIII)
  • Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
  • OR Graduation with 45% marks and B.Ed. as per NCTE norms

Q1: What are the minimum educational qualifications to be taken in OTET 2025?

In Paper 1, a person must have Senior Secondary passed with 50 per cent and Diploma in Elementary Education or its equivalent, whereas in Paper 2, he must have graduated in B.Ed. or its equivalent.

OTET 2025 has no age restriction, and hence can be pursued by all age, but the normal age requirement is 18 years.
