OTET Eligibility Criteria 2026: The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2026 is a state-level examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha to certify candidates for teaching positions in government-recognised primary and upper primary schools across Odisha.

The board released the detailed OTET 2026 Notification on 25 March 2026. As per the official schedule, the exam will be held on 29 May 2026 (Friday) in two shifts. Paper I (for Classes 1 to 5) will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, while Paper II (for Classes 6 to 8) will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

OTET 2026 consists of two papers designed to assess candidates’ eligibility for primary and upper primary teaching roles, making it a crucial step for aspiring teachers in Odisha.

OTET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Although the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) is an eligibility-based exam, candidates must fulfill certain criteria before applying for OTET 2026. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam; however, meeting the prescribed minimum educational qualifications is mandatory.

Eligibility for Paper-I (Primary Teachers, Classes I-V)
  • Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), following NCTE regulations.
  • Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

Eligibility for Paper-II (Upper Primary Teachers, Classes VI-VIII)
  • Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with NCTE regulations.
  • Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
