The University of Jammu was all set to conduct the JK SET 2025 to determine the candidate's eligibility for the Assistant Professor Position in the Universities and Colleges of the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh. But with the release of notice on 8th May 2025, the conducting body announced the postponement of the exam due to the ongoing India-Pakistan news of border tension. Though the date of the examination after this notice is yet to be announced. The final determination of eligibility is going to be based on the combined performance in both Paper I and Paper II of the JK SET 2025. Candidates who qualify for the examination will be considered for recruitment in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the respective Universities, Colleges, or the Governments of J&K or Ladakh. As earlier, the JK SET 2025 was supposed to be conducted on 27/04/2025, but now it has been rescheduled. The Jammu University (Nodal Agency) was scheduled to conduct the JKSET/LASET 2025 exam on April 27, 2025, to assess eligibility for Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges across Jammu & Kashmir (JKSET) and Ladakh (LASET). The exam has been postponed, and the revised JK SET Exam Date 2025 was May 11, 2025. However, with the latest release of the notice dated 8th May, 2025, JK SET Exam 2025 stays postponed till any further official notification as announced on the official website. The exam will cover 41 subjects and will be conducted at three locations: Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh. Candidates are advised to stay updated by regularly visiting the official website for the latest information regarding the new exam date and other crucial details.
To be eligible for the JKSET/LASET 2025, candidates must have fulfill JK SET Eligibility 2025. Wherein they must have obtained at least 55% marks in their Master's Degree or an equivalent qualification recognized by UGC. SC/ST/PwD candidates are required to secure a minimum of 50%. There is also provision for candidates who are awaiting their results, allowing them up to two years to fulfill the eligibility criteria. Candidates who completed their Ph.D. before 1991 are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the required marks. Those with foreign degrees must confirm their equivalence through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The University of Jammu’s official websites (www.jammuuniversity.ac.in or www.jujkset.in) provide the updated JK SET 2025 Syllabus for all subjects, including those in the sciences such as Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Earth Sciences. Additionally, the syllabi for science subjects are aligned with the CSIR-NET standards and can be accessed through the CSIR HRDG website.

Candidates are required to download their JK SET 2025 Admit Card from the official JKSET website starting from May 5, 2025. It is important for candidates to read all instructions provided on the admit card and follow them carefully during the examination process. With proper following of protoco,l candidates can avoid any kind of last-minute hassle.
The JK SET 2025 examination will be held at three primary centers: Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh. If the number of candidates at a sub-center exceeds 250, additional sub-centers will be created at the following district headquarters: Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, and Bhaderwah for the Jammu center; Anantnag and Baramulla for the Srinagar center; and Leh and Kargil for the Leh center.
The JK SET Agency will publish the provisional answer key for the 2025 examination on the official JK SET website (www.jujkset.in). Candidates will have the opportunity to challenge the provisional answer key, which will be available for two to three days. A separate notification will be issued regarding the procedure to challenge the answers, and a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 200 per question challenged will apply.
The result for JK SET 2025 will be announced online on the University of Jammu's official website. The number of candidates qualifying for the Assistant Professor eligibility will be determined by allocating 6% of the total candidates who appeared in both papers of JK SET/LASET, distributed across different categories as per the reservation policy for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The JK SET 2025 cut-off and results will be declared based on a category-wise, subject-wise, and UT-wise distribution of slots. Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be included in the preparation of the merit list. To qualify, candidates must appear in both papers and secure the following minimum percentage:
Unreserved (UR)/General EWS: 40% (combined total for both papers)
SC, ST, OBC, etc.: 35% (combined total for both papers)
Certain candidates are exempt from appearing for the JK SET when applying for the Assistant Professor position, provided they meet all other eligibility requirements. This includes candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) exam before December 1989 or those who have qualified for the UGC-NET for Lectureship/Assistant Professor or the Joint CSIR-UGC Test.
Candidates who successfully clear the SET/SLET accredited by UGC for Assistant Professorship before June 1, 2002, are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions across India. However, candidates who pass the SET after June 1, 2002, can only apply for positions in universities and colleges within the state where they appeared for the SET. The SET agency will issue certificates specifying the Union Territory of eligibility, and these certificates will remain valid indefinitely.
