The UGC NET German Exam 2024 is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is held twice a year, in June and December. However, this year, for security considerations, the June 2024 tests were delayed to August–September 2024. The dates of the 2024 UGC NET exam are set on August 21, 2024, to September 4, 2024.
The examination serves the dual purposes of assessing applicants for Assistant Professor posts and awarding Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) for the study of German literature and language. It is a necessary initial step for individuals wishing to advance in their academic and research careers in German studies. There are two papers in the test: Paper I evaluates the candidate's general teaching and research aptitude, and Paper II evaluates the candidate's proficiency of German. The Exam is supposed to be conducted in Online (CBT) mode.

UGC NET German Exam 2024 Eligibility
The UGC NET German 2024 Exam is on 21st August to 4th September 2024. There are specific UGC NET German Eligibility criteria. In order to be eligible to take the 2024 UGC NET German Exam, the candidates shall have following requirements:
Educational Qualification
To be eligible for the position, candidates must hold a Master's degree in German language or literature from a recognized university, ensuring a solid foundation in the language's intricacies.
Those who completed the Ph.D. on or before September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% reduction in aggregate marks without eroding the minimum marks prescribed or with relaxation from 55% to 50% for appearing in the NET, irrespective of the date of declaration of result.
Before December 1, 2002, the candidates who qualified in the UGC-accredited State Eligibility Test are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor posts in India only in universities or colleges of the state from which they passed the SET. They will also be exempted from appearing in the NET.
Minimum Marks
The General category requires a minimum of 55% marks in their Master's degree, while candidates from OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and Transgender categories need a minimum of 50%. These inclusive criteria allow diverse applicants to apply.

Age Limit
Since the Assistant Professor positions, with the UGC NET qualification, do not have any age limit, any candidate can sit for the examination and become eligible for these teaching jobs.
The UGC NET conducts Junior Research Fellowships for the eligible applicants. The age limit for JRFs will be 30 years as of the start of the month of examination and provides financing for research.
