To be eligible for the UGC NET Political Science Exam 2024, candidates must meet specific academic and age requirements.- Master's Degree: Candidates must have completed a postgraduate degree in Political Science from a UGC-recognized college or university, and General Category candidates should possess an aggregate of 55%, while SC, ST, and OBC candidates must have a 50% aggregate.
- PhD Holders: PhD holders whose master’s degree was completed on or before September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.
- PG Result Awaited: Candidates who are appearing in or awaiting the result of their PG Degree must complete their degree within two years from the date of the NET examination. They need to submit their result with the required percentage; otherwise, they will be considered disqualified.
UGC NET Political Science Exam Age Limit
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The maximum age limit for JRF is 30 years. However, there are age relaxations for certain categories:
- OBC-NCL (Central list), SC, ST, PwD, and third-gender candidates, as well as women applicants, get a relaxation of up to 5 years.
- Candidates with research experience in the relevant/related subject of their post-graduation degree are eligible for relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years if they provide a certificate from an appropriate authority.
- Those with an L.L.M. degree will get a 3-year age relaxation
- Candidates with experience in the armed forces will receive a 5-year relaxation based on their service duration.
- Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for Assistant Professorship.
