WB SET Educational Qualification 2024

• General/EWS Candidates: Must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized institution.
• OBC (Non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD/Transgender Candidates: Must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized institution.
• Candidates Awaiting Results: Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or have appeared for their final examination and are awaiting results can apply. However, they must complete their Master’s degree with the required percentage within two years from the date of the SET result to qualify.
• Ph.D. Degree Holders: Those who completed their Master’s degree by September 19, 1991, and hold a Ph.D. degree are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (from 55% to 50%).
• Subject Requirement: Candidates must appear for the WB SET in the subject of their Post-Graduation. If their subject is not listed among the WB SET subjects, they may take the UGC NET or Joint CSIR-UGC Test.
• Documentation: Candidates do not need to send any documents or printouts of their WB SET 2024 Application Form to the WBCSC. However, they must ensure their eligibility, as any ineligibility detected later will lead to cancellation of candidature and possible legal action.

• PWD Candidates: Reservation is provided for candidates with a minimum of 40% disability. The types of disabilities covered include Blindness and low vision, Locomotor disability, including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy, Deafness and Hard of Hearing, Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness, and other specified disabilities.

WB SET 2024 Exemptions

• NET/SET/SLET Requirement: NET/SET/SLET is the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors. Exemption from NET/SET/SLET will follow UGC regulations and amendments.
• JRF Examination Exemption: Candidates who passed the UGC/CSIR JRF Examination before 1989 are exempt from appearing in NET/SET.
• State Eligibility Test (SET) Exemption: Candidates who cleared SET accredited by UGC before June 1, 2002, are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor posts anywhere in India. For SETs held from June 1, 2002, onwards, the qualification is valid only within the state of the SET.
