UPSC EPFO Eligibility Criteria 2025

The Union Public Service Commission is authorized to conduct the recruitment for various posts including EO, AO, and APFC on behalf of the  Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). The UPSC EPFO eligibility criteria 2025 encompass various parameters like age, educational qualifications, and nationality. UPSC EPFO Age Limit 

The UPSC EPFO age limit is a crucial component of the eligibility criteria. Candidates must be at least 21 years old to apply for the EPFO exam. The maximum age limit criteria are as follows:

  • Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer (EO/AO): Maximum age is 30 years.
  • Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC): Maximum age is 35 years.

Keep in mind that age is calculated as of the notification date in 2025 and certain categories will be provided with age relaxation in the upper age limit as per government guidelines. For example, the UPSC EPFO age limit for OBC candidates is relaxed up to 3 years.

UPSC EPFO Age Relaxation 

Age relaxations for the UPSC EPFO exam provide opportunities for candidates from specific categories. Candidates must provide valid documentation to avail of these benefits. The UPSC EPFO age limit category-wise is as follows:

UPSC EPFO Nationality Criteria 

The UPSC EPFO eligibility criteria also include nationality requirements. Candidates must be:

  1. Citizen of India
  2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. Tibetan origin individual seeking refuge in India (arrived before January 1, 1962).
  4. A person of Indian origin (PIO) migrated from certain countries including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), and Vietnam to stay in India permanently.

The UPSC EPFO Eligibility Criteria 2025 regarding nationality will be verified by the Verification ID issued by the Government of India. Applicants falling under categories 2 to 4 must hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

UPSC EPFO Educational Qualification 

The UPSC EPFO qualification requires candidates to possess at least a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Degrees from any discipline are accepted, provided they are recognised by UGC or equivalent bodies. However, certain qualifications are desirable from candidates, which include a five-year integrated law degree or master's degree in business administration, company secretary, etc. Still, candidates from all educational backgrounds are invited to apply for the EPFO exam as per the UPSC EPFO Eligibility Criteria 2025.

UPSC EPFO Number of Attempts

According to previous notifications, there is no specified restriction on the number of attempts for the UPSC EPFO exam. However, candidates must qualify within the upper age limit applicable to their category. Candidates are allowed to apply as long as they are under the maximum age limit prescribed in the UPSC EPFO Eligibility Criteria 2025. Therefore, aspirants are encouraged to use their attempts wisely.

UPSC EPFO Personal Assistant Eligibility Criteria

UPSC EPFO Personal Assistant 2024 exam provided information on EPFO PA Eligibility Criteria for upcoming years. To apply candidates must at least have a graduation degree and be between 18 to 30 years of age. Other requirements include:

  • Stenographer Transcription Speed: Candidates must be able to transcribe dictation at a speed of 120 words per minute (WPM) in either English or Hindi.
  • Transcription on Computer: The transcription must be done on a computer, with 50 minutes allotted for English transcription and 65 minutes for Hindi transcription.

UPSC EPFO Experience Criteria 

The UPSC EPFO eligibility does not mandate prior work experience for candidates applying for Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer posts. However, candidates having an additional minimum of two years of experience in the field of accounting, administration, or legal matters in any government or private enterprise will be preferred. Therefore work experience may not be mandatory, but it can enhance your application.
