UPSC CSE Tie Breaker Resolution

  •  Compulsory Papers + Interview If total marks are equal, the candidate with higher combined marks in the Essay, GS I, GS II, GS III, GS IV, and the Personality Test is ranked higher.

  •  Compulsory Papers Only If the marks from Step 1 are still equal, the candidate with higher combined marks in the Essay, GS I, GS II, GS III, and GS IV (excluding the Interview) is ranked higher.

  •  Age Seniority If a tie still exists after both Step 1 and Step 2, the older candidate (senior in age) is given the higher rank.
