UPSC Cut Off 2023: The Union Public Service Commission has announced the UPSC Cut Off on 18 April 2024. The Prelims and Mains Cut off Marks is now available at 'upsc.gov.in'. The UPSC Cut off for prelims has fallen below 80 with 75.41 for the general category. A similar trend has been observed in UPSC Mains cut off 2023.
UPSC Prelims was held on May 28 while Mains was conducted from September 15 to September 24, 2023. The final UPSC Cutoff 2023 has been revealed to be the deciding factor on the merit list . UPSC CSE exam is conducted in three stages, prelims, mains, and interview. At each stage, candidates are shortlisted for the next round and after the interview, a merit list is published. Since lakhs of candidates appear for the UPSC exam , the average marks criteria is used to shortlist them according to available vacancies which is known as UPSC Cut Off 2023. UPSC Cut Off 2023
The UPSC Cut off 2023 is the minimum qualifying mark that decides the roll numbers that will be included in the UPSC result PDF. The rank list will be prepared for those who score above the UPSC Cut Off 2023. There are two crucial facts related to UPSC Cut off that must be known to all aspirants.- Candidates should know that for the prelims stage the UPSC Cut off marks are released on the basis of GS Paper I only . Since the GS Paper II is qualifying nature with 33% marks out of 200 its score is not counted for preparing the cutoff.
- Another fact related to the UPSC cut off is that in the main exam, the minimum 10% marks i.e. 25 marks must be obtained by the candidate in each of the seven papers. These are Essay, GS I, GS II, GS III, GS IV, Optional I, and Optional II. If candidates fail to meet this criterion, they will be disqualified.

UPSC Cut Off Tie Breaker
Sometimes, the marks of two or more candidates might be the same which may cause issues in preparing the merit list and UPSC cut off. To resolve this, a tiebreaker formula is used by UPSC in the cases of equal aggregate marks in the Civil Services Examination (CSE). This formula is as follows:- The candidate who has secured more marks in the Compulsory Papers (Essay and General Studies papers) and the Personality Test combined is to be ranked higher.
- If the tie is still not resolved then the candidate who is senior in age among the two will be ranked higher in the UPSC merit list.

Previous Years UPSC Mains Cut off

Factors Affecting UPSC Cut Off 2023
As evident in the above tables, the UPSC Cut Off varies every year due to certain factors that influence it.
