RRB JE 2025 Success Story

Sunil Kumar Meena, from Manderu village in Karauli district, Rajasthan, secured selection in RRB JE 2025 and became the first government engineer in his family. He completed his BTech in 2024 and started preparing for government exams soon after.

His journey was not straightforward. After missing selection in his first RRB JE attempt, Sunil faced self-doubt and even started filling forms for different exams. However, he later identified his weak areas, improved his preparation strategy, and continued working towards his goal.

Sunil Started His RRB JE Journey After Completing BTech

After completing his BTech in 2024, Sunil was initially unsure about what he wanted to do. With support from his family, he decided to prepare for government exams and took his first RRB JE course in July 2024.

“Ma’am jab main pass out hua tha college se to mere ko itna clear nahi tha kya karna kya nahi karna. Phir ghar walon ne bola ki jo tere ko sahi lage aur tere college ka background hai hum un cheezon ko kar.”

He completed the recorded course, watched the lectures, and prepared notes before appearing for the RRB JE CBT 1 exam in December. He cleared CBT 1 but could not qualify the CBT 2 cut-off in that attempt.

Sunil Faced Self-Doubt After Missing His First Attempt

Sunil scored around 80.5 marks in his first CBT 2 attempt. The result affected his confidence, especially because his family had expected him to secure a government job soon after graduation.

“Phir uske baad phir aisa laga ki pata nahi kya hai kya nahi. Kaun log hote hain jinka nikalta hai. Hum unmein se aata hoon ya nahi aata.”

After this setback, he started applying for several other government exams. Over time, however, he realised that changing his target repeatedly was not helping his preparation.

“Mere ko samajh mein aaya ki competition har jagah hota hai. Agar ek cheez ki taiyari karte hain to usi mein lage rehna chahiye kyunki usmein zyada chances ho jaate hain.”

This realisation helped Sunil return his focus to RRB JE preparation.

Sunil Improved His Weak Areas With Mock Tests

After analysing his previous performance, Sunil identified several gaps in his preparation. He had left some subjects and topics, made mistakes in repeated PYQs, and also struggled with exam pressure.

“Bahut saare subjects the jo maine chhod rakhe the, bahut saare topics the jo achhe se nahi padhe the. PYQs bhi bahut saare aise mere galat ho rahe the jo repeated questions hote hain.”

He worked on these areas and joined a test series. As his scores started improving in the tests, his confidence also increased.

“Phir maine test series join kari. Bhai hum sochta tha aise, phir mere ko mere score aane lage na test series mein. Phir mere ko lagne laga ki maybe ho jayega mera.”

This time, his preparation became more focused. He also appeared for other exams such as SSC JE and RRB exams, gradually gaining confidence from his performance.

Sunil Followed a Consistent Study Routine Every Day

Sunil did not set a fixed number of study hours for every day. Instead, his main rule was to ensure that no day passed without studying.

“Kabhi bhi koi bhi day aisa nahi jaana chahiye, bilkul padhai na ho. Mera sabse bada focus is pe rehta tha.”

On a good day, he could study for eight to ten hours. On difficult days, he still tried to study for at least three to four hours.

“Main sochta tha aisa day ho ki jab achha din ho to 8-9 ghante padhai ho jaaye, 10 ghante ho jaaye aur bura din bhi ho jab bhi 4 ghante to at least padhai ho.”

He also preferred studying in the morning because completing a few hours early helped him stay productive throughout the day.

Sunil Used PW Courses and Self-Study to Strengthen His Preparation

Sunil's preparation included recorded lectures, notes, self-study, and regular practice. He had taken a recorded course while beginning his RRB JE preparation and completed the lectures before his first exam attempt.

“Maine 2024 ke July mein PW ka course liya tha; aapka recorded course tha. Usse maine 4-5 mahine mein saari video dekhi. Notes banaye.”

After his first unsuccessful attempt, he continued working on his preparation instead of stopping. He also used YouTube to clear weak topics before the exam.

“Jaise main ye sochta tha meri ye subject bilkul weak hai. To main usko YouTube se sabse pehle clear kar deta tha.”

His approach gradually shifted from simply completing the syllabus to identifying specific weaknesses and working on them.

Sunil Prepared His Weak Subjects Before the RRB JE Exam

For the final month before the exam, Sunil focused on the subjects and topics where he was less confident. He first cleared the concepts, completed the syllabus, and prepared short notes.

“Uska syllabus kya hai, usko sab achhe se kar liye, short notes bana liye.”

He then used mock tests to identify the topics where he was losing marks. This allowed him to work on specific weaknesses instead of revising everything equally.

“Phir main soch raha tha roz ka ek mock lagaun. Usse mere ko pata lag jaayega mera is topic mein number kam aa rahe hain, ye galat ho raha hai.”

This strategy also helped reduce his exam fear because he could track his progress through his mock scores.

Sunil Learned to Focus on the Questions That Matter Most

Sunil also shared how he dealt with unusual or unexpected questions in mock tests. Instead of spending too much time on every difficult question, he focused on getting the regular syllabus-based questions right.

“Humko ye sochna chahiye ki jo question normal question hai, jo aate-aate jo syllabus se hai bilkul, wo question galat na ho.”

He suggested revising again when normal questions were repeatedly going wrong. For unusual questions, he believed aspirants should avoid spending too much time and energy.

“Mostly jo 90% cheezein hain na, wo sahi ho. Haan, 2-5% cheezein ajeeb hoti hain, wo sabki galat hoti hai aur unki wajah se zyada time nahi kharab karna chahiye.”

Sunil Became the First Government Engineer in His Family

Sunil successfully cleared the technical recruitment exam to secure his appointment in Indian Railways. He shared his story during the PW RRB JE 2025 Result Celebration. He is now the first government engineer in his entire family.

“Ghar pe jaata hoon to aisa lagta hai kuch to kiya life mein.”

His father, a small farmer, supported his preparation throughout the journey and continued investing in his education even when the results did not come immediately.

“Papa ka bahut zyada support hai. Unhone mere ko baad mein bolne lag gaye the jab exam nahi nikle ki ab to Bhagwan ke upar hai, to padh hi raha hai, ab jo hoga wo dekhenge.”

Sunil's mother also supported him during difficult phases and helped his family stay positive when he was struggling with the RRB JE Exam Results.

Sunil’s RRB JE Selection Fulfilled His Parents’ Dream

Sunil's parents had continued supporting his preparation despite the financial challenges of funding his studies and living expenses in places such as Jaipur and Delhi. His selection brought them a different kind of happiness.

“Unke chehre ki jo khushi hai usko dekhne ke liye hum taras jaate hain ki wahi ma’am hum wo khushi de paaye.”

For Sunil, becoming a government engineer was not only about his own career. It was also a way of giving back to the parents who had invested their savings and trust in his education.

“Khud ka jitna motivation hota hai khud ke liye kuch karne ka, aisa lagta hai ghar wale itne achhe hain, unke liye karenge kuch achha.”

Sunil’s Advice for Future RRB JE Aspirants

Sunil's biggest advice to RRB JE aspirants is to remain consistent even when results do not come quickly. He believes that preparation should continue for the long term and that setbacks should be used to identify weaknesses.

“Koi bhi exam turant to nahi niklega. Aapko iske liye bahut patience rakhna padega. Taiyari lambi rakhni padegi.”

For the final month, he recommends focusing on weak subjects, preparing short notes, and attempting one mock test every day.

“Mere ko lagta hai roz ek to mock lagana chahiye aur 3-4 ghante aise jo cheez weak hai unko dekh le, usse kaam ho jaata hai.”

Sunil's journey from an unsuccessful first attempt to becoming his family's first government engineer shows the value of patience, consistency, self-analysis, and continued effort.
