DU Assistant Professor Selection Process 2024

The shortlisting of candidates for the interview stage is based on the marks obtained in the screening process. For the position of Assistant Professor, the evaluation is based on a 100-point scale that covers various academic and related credentials of the candidates. Here are the key steps involved in the shortlisting process:
  1. Ranking of Candidates: The Screening Committee will prepare a list of all candidates in descending order based on the marks they secured. Candidates who secure less than 65 points will not be included in the list of shortlisted candidates. However, there is a relaxation of 5 points for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwBD categories.
  2. Minimum Number of Candidates per Vacancy: For each vacancy, at least 30 candidates will be shortlisted for the interview. For additional vacancies, 10 more candidates per vacancy will be added. If multiple candidates secure the same score at the cutoff point, all such candidates will be called for an interview.
  3. Publications and Teaching Experience: Only publications listed in UGC CARE or SCOPUS indexed journals will be considered for awarding marks. Additionally, teaching experience gained while pursuing a research degree simultaneously with a teaching assignment (without any leave) will be counted as valid teaching experience.
  4. Weightage of Screening Marks: The marks awarded during the screening process are used exclusively for shortlisting purposes. These marks will not carry any weight during the final interview process.
  5. Resolution of Disputes: In case of any dispute related to the screening of applications, the decision of the Competent Authority will be final.
  6. Shortlisting Criteria: The University will display the shortlisting criteria on its website, and shortlisted candidates will be able to check their status on their individual applicant dashboards.
  7. Final Assessment through Presentation: Shortlisted candidates will be required to give a presentation before a committee. This presentation allows the committee to make a prima facie assessment of the candidates, which will be submitted to the final Selection Committee . The presentation will be graded as follows:
    • A : Excellent
    • B : Very Good
    • C : Good
    • D : Average
    • E : Below Average

The screening process ensures that candidates are fairly evaluated based on their academic achievements and research contributions. The following are the key steps involved:
  1. Preparation of List by Screening Committee: The Screening Committee is responsible for compiling a list of candidates based on their research scores. The candidates are ranked in descending order, starting from the highest scorer.
  2. Minimum Research Score Requirement: Candidates must achieve a minimum research score of 75 to be considered for the post of Associate Professor. This ensures that candidates with significant academic achievements are shortlisted for further evaluation.
  3. Interview Shortlisting: For the first vacancy, 30 candidates are shortlisted for interviews. For each additional vacancy, 10 more candidates are shortlisted. If multiple candidates achieve the same score at the cutoff point, they will all be invited for the interview.
  4. Research and Teaching Experience: The time spent acquiring an M.Phil. or Ph.D. is not considered teaching or research experience . However, periods of active service spent pursuing research while simultaneously fulfilling teaching responsibilities are counted as teaching experience.
  5. Consideration of UGC CARE List or SCOPUS Indexed Publications: Only publications listed in the UGC CARE or SCOPUS indexed journals are considered during the screening process to ensure the quality of the candidate’s research contributions.
  6. Dispute Resolution: In case of any disputes related to the screening process, the decision of the Screening Committee will be final.
  7. Status of Shortlisting: The status of the shortlisting process will be available on the respective applicants' dashboards for transparency and timely updates.

DU Professor Selection Process 2024

The screening process aims to rank candidates based on their academic and research achievements, ensuring that only the most qualified applicants proceed to the next stage of recruitment. Legal action may be taken against the applicant under relevant laws. The University reserves the right to modify or withdraw any communication made to the applicants. In the case of any disputes, the University’s decision will be final. Here are the key steps involved in the shortlisting process:
  1. List Preparation by Screening Committee: The Screening Committee will prepare a list of all applicants based on the research scores they have accumulated, arranged in descending order. The goal is to provide a clear ranking from the candidate with the highest score to the lowest.

  3. Interview Shortlisting: For each vacancy, a minimum of 30 candidates will be shortlisted for interviews. For additional vacancies, 10 candidates will be shortlisted per vacancy. If multiple candidates achieve the same score at the cutoff point, they will all be invited for interviews.
  4. Teaching/Research Experience: The time taken to acquire an M.Phil. or Ph.D. will not count as teaching or research experience . This ensures that candidates who have managed both research and teaching responsibilities are given due credit.
  5. Publications in UGC CARE List or SCOPUS Indexed Journals: Only publications that appear in the UGC CARE list or are SCOPUS-indexed will be considered during the screening process. This guarantees that only high-quality, peer-reviewed research is factored into the evaluation.
  6. Resolution of Disputes: In the event of any dispute during the screening process, the decision of the Screening Committee will be final. This helps maintain transparency and fairness.
  7. Status of Shortlisting: The shortlisting status will be made available on the individual dashboards of the applicants. This ensures that candidates are well-informed of their progress throughout the recruitment process.
  8. Presentation Assessment for Shortlisted Candidates: Candidates who are shortlisted for interviews will undergo an initial assessment through presentations. This stage allows for a preliminary evaluation by a committee.
  9. Final Decision by the Selection Committee: The final decision in the recruitment process will rest with the Selection Committee , whose decisions are considered final. This ensures that the entire process, while systematic, allows for a holistic evaluation of the candidate’s qualifications.
