JEE Main 2027 Paper 2: Dates, Syllabus, Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2027 Paper 2

JEE Main 2027 Paper 2 is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for students seeking admission to undergraduate programmes in Architecture and Planning. It covers two streams: B.Arch and B.Planning. The examination is divided into Paper 2A for B.Arch and Paper 2B for B.Planning.

The official 2027 information bulletin and final schedule are not available yet. JEE Main 2027 Paper 2 is expected to retain the two-stream structure used for B.Arch and B.Planning. You should check the official NTA website for the final notification. NTA conducted the 2026 Paper 2 in two sessions, and the 2026 bulletin confirms that the architecture and planning papers are offered separately.

JEE Main 2027 Paper 2 Highlights

The examination is used as the JEE Main architecture entrance exam for undergraduate admissions through the applicable admission process of participating institutes. The NTA conducts the examination.

The 2026 NTA bulletin followed a January and April schedule for the two sessions. It also stated that the B.Arch and B.Planning papers were conducted twice in the year. Hence, a similar structure may be followed in 2027. However, you should rely on the official notice for the final dates.

The paper carries 400 marks in the recent pattern.

The Mathematics section includes multiple-choice and numerical-value questions. The Aptitude Test checks visual and analytical skills. The Drawing Test is conducted separately on an A4 drawing sheet.

The recent paper carried 400 marks.

In the Mathematics section, correct answers were awarded four marks. Incorrect answers carried negative marks. The marking rules for 2027 will be known after NTA releases the official bulletin.

The syllabus has common areas and course-specific sections. Mathematics is included in both papers. Aptitude is also common to B.Arch and B.Planning.

Aptitude Test

The Aptitude syllabus focuses on visualisation and spatial understanding.

It includes:

  • Awareness of buildings, materials, objects and textures

  • Visualisation of three-dimensional objects

  • Analytical reasoning

  • Visual, numerical and verbal mental ability

  • Scale and proportion

  • Building forms and elements

  • Colour, texture, harmony and contrast

  • Two-dimensional and three-dimensional compositions

  • Transformation of shapes and forms

The syllabus also includes the generation of plans, elevations and three-dimensional views of objects.

Drawing Test

The Drawing Test is specific to B.Arch. You are required to sketch scenes and activities from memory.

The syllabus includes subjects such as:

  • Urban spaces

  • Public spaces

  • Festivals

  • Street scenes

  • Monuments

  • Recreational spaces

  • Landscapes

  • Gardens

  • Plants and trees

  • Rural life

The test is conducted on a drawing sheet. Candidates are advised to carry pencils, a geometry box, erasers, colour pencils, and crayons.

The Planning section is included in Paper 2B. It covers three broad areas.
