M.Des entrance exams 2027 include CEED, NID DAT, NIFT, MITID DAT, SEED and UID DAT, conducted by different design institutes and admission bodies in India. CEED 2027: Dates, Institutes and What to Know

CEED 2027, conducted by IIT Bombay, is one of the most trusted M.Des entrance exams. The exam will be held on 17 January 2027, from 9 AM to 12 Noon, in two parts: Part A (computer-based screening) and Part B (pen-and-paper design test). 

CEED scores are accepted by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore and IIITDM Jabalpur for their M.Des programmes. NID DAT 2027: Regular M.Des Admission

NID DAT 2027 registration is open, and the last date to apply (without late fee) is 30 November 2026, 11:59 pm, on admissions.nid.edu. The DAT Prelims exam will be held on 20 December 2026, from 10 AM to 1 PM, and it is a pen-and-paper test.

NID 5.5-Year Integrated M.Des: Eligibility and Course Details

The 5.5-Year Professional Education Master of Design (Integrated Pathway) at NID is different from the regular postgraduate M.Des programme. It allows eligible candidates to enter the design programme after Class 12 or an equivalent qualification.

The programme consists of 11 semesters and combines undergraduate-level design education with a Master's degree pathway. For the 2027–28 session, NID has listed design disciplines across five design streams at its Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar campuses.

Each listed discipline has an intake of 9 seats across the Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar programmes.

Who Can Apply for NID Integrated M.Des?

Candidates who have passed or are appearing for Class 12 or an equivalent examination in the 2026–27 academic year can apply, subject to NID's eligibility conditions.

NID allows candidates from Science, Arts, Commerce and Humanities backgrounds to apply.

For the 2027–28 admission cycle, the specified age criteria are:

• General/GEN-EWS: Born on or after 1 July 2006

• OBC-NCL/SC/ST: Born on or after 1 July 2003

• PwD: Born on or after 1 July 2001

• Overseas candidates: Born on or after 1 July 2006

A bachelor's degree is not required for this Integrated M.Des pathway because admission is available after Class 12.

NIFT M.Des 2027

NIFT M.Des 2027 is conducted by the National Testing Agency. The application form usually opens in December, and the exam takes place around February. NIFT M.Des tests your general ability along with your creative ability, and shortlisted candidates then go through a further round before final selection.

MITID DAT 2027

MITID DAT 2027, run by MIT Institute of Design, Pune, is held for both B.Des and M.Des aspirants, with two cycles usually kept open for M.Des candidates. The test checks your design thinking, general awareness and creative ability through a mix of objective and subjective questions, along with a drawing section.

SEED 2027

SEED 2027, short for Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design, is conducted by Symbiosis Institute of Design for both B.Des and M.Des programmes. It's a 60-minute online proctored test with objective and image-based questions, and there's no negative marking, so it's worth attempting every question. 

SEED usually runs in two rounds: Round 1 in January and Round 2 later in the year, and candidates who clear the exam move to a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round before the final merit list comes out. More details are available on the SEED exam page.

UID DAT 2027

UID DAT 2027, conducted by Unitedworld Institute of Design (part of Karnavati University), is a two-tier admission process for both B.Des and M.Des courses. The first stage is the written Design Aptitude Test, and candidates who qualify move to a Situation Test and Portfolio Evaluation before getting their final offer. 

UID offers programmes across streams like Industrial Design, Interior & Experience Design, Fashion Design, Textile & Knitwear Design and Visual Experiential Design.
