NTA Announces No Category Certificate Required for JEE Main 2025 Application

• To address this concern, NTA has released an official notification stating that applicants are not required to upload their category certificate during the online application process for JEE Main 2025 . Instead, they must fill in the following details: Certificate number, date of issue, and issuing authority name.
• In such cases where an applicant does not yet have a category certificate but has applied for one, they should provide the acknowledgment or receipt number, the date of application, and the issuing authority’s details.
• However, it's important to note that the acknowledgment/receipt number does not guarantee a seat. Applicants must provide the certificate during document verification later.
• The verification of documents, including the category certificate, will take place at the time of counseling or admission by the respective institutions.

Can Students Use Their Parents’ or Siblings' Category Certificate for JEE Main 2025?

• There is no age restriction for minors to apply for their own category certificate. If students don’t have the certificate at the time of registration, they can still proceed with the application.
• The NTA allows students to enter the Acknowledgement/Receipt Number , Date of Application , and Issuing Authority in the application form if they have applied for their certificate but haven't received it yet.

NTA Guidelines on Category Certificate for JEE Main 2025: Points to Remember

• No Uploading of Category Certificate : Applicants do not need to upload their category certificate during the JEE Main 2025 registration for Session 1.
• Apply for a Certificate if Not Available : If applicants do not have an updated category certificate, they are advised to apply for it on a priority basis. In the meantime, they must fill in the acknowledgement/receipt number, date of application, and issuing authority in the JEE Main application form .
• Category Certificate Verification at Seat Allocation : Admission will be based on applicants' choices and All India Rankings (AIR) in JEE Main 2025. However, the authentication/verification of documents, including the category certificate, will take place during the seat allocation/admission process.
• Submission of Original Certificate at Admission : Applicants who fall under Gen-EWS, SC, ST, OBC, or PwD/PwBD categories will be required to produce the original category certificate in the prescribed format, issued by the competent authority, during the Seat Allocation/Admission process. Failing to do so may result in non-consideration for admission.
• Important Note for Candidates Without Certificate : If an applicant applies for the certificate but does not have it at the time of registration, the acknowledgement/receipt number entered during the registration will not guarantee a seat. The candidate must present the original certificate during the document verification process.
• Document Verification at Seat Allocation or Admission : The verification process will include documents related to identification, date of birth, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category, and disability (if any). Missing or invalid documents may lead to the candidate being excluded from the admission process.
