AIIMS Full Form: History of AIIMS

In 1956, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences was established as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Providing the people in India with world-class medical education, research, and care has been a primary objective of AIIMS.

On October 2nd, 1952, the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the foundation stone for AIIMS in New Delhi, which became operational in 1956. It was established as a result of the recommendations of the Bhore Committee Report in 1946, which recommended establishing several medical colleges across India.

AIIMS Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for appearing in the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) entrance examination may vary depending on the level of the examination.

MBBS Course:

  1. Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
  2. Age: The candidate should have attained the age of 17 years as on December 31 of the year of admission.
  3. Educational Qualifications: The candidate should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as mandatory subjects. The minimum aggregate marks required in these subjects are 60% for General category candidates and 50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates.

PG Courses:

  1. Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
  2. Educational Qualifications: The candidate should have an MBBS degree from a recognized medical college or university.
  3. Internship: The candidate should have completed a one-year internship on or before July 31 of the admission year.

DM/M.Ch Courses:

  1. Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
  2. Educational Qualifications: The candidate should have an MD/MS or DNB degree from a recognized medical college or university.
  3. Registration: The candidate should be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the State Medical Council (SMC).

AIIMS Full Form: Exam Pattern for AIIMS

AIIMS Exam pattern: There are 200 questions in AIIMS's question paper. Multiple choice questions and questions based on reasoning or assertion are all the questions in the paper. There are several different questions in each of the subjects. Here you will find a summary of all the questions relating to each subject:

  • Chemistry: 60 questions
  • Physics: 60 questions
  • Biology: 60 questions (Both combining zoology and botany)
  • General knowledge and aptitude: 40 questions

For each accurate reply, the applicant will receive one mark. Conversely, one-third will deduct automatically from attempting the wrong question. If a candidate answers one question incorrectly, he or she will receive an automatic deduction of 0.75 from the earned marks.

No marks and deductions shall be made where the question is left blank or unanswered. Candidates will be able to submit the exam in either Hindi or English. The students were offered three hours and thirty minutes to complete the paper.
