The full form of AFA is Air Force Academy.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the AFA exam as a competitive examination. It is also known as the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). The examination measures the candidate's knowledge in various areas.

How to Qualify for the AFA Exam? - AFA Eligibility

• Education Requirement: The candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects. However, candidates appearing for the 10+2 examination are also eligible to apply. But they must prove passed the examination at the time of the Interview.

• Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India to appear for the AFA exam.

• Martial Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the AFA exam.

All About the AFA Exam's Structure: AFA Exam Pattern 

Written Exam:   

The written exam consists of two papers, Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Both papers contain objective- questions.

Mathematics includes topics such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and statistics. This section is generally of 300 marks.

Furthermore, the General Ability Test (GAT) is 600 marks and consists of topics such as English, General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, etc.

SSB Interview:   

The Services and Selection Board (SSB) interview is conducted for candidates who qualify for the written examination. It consists of two stages, Stage I and Stage II. 

Additionally, Stage I consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and the picture Perception and Description Test ( PP&DT).

Joining the AFA: Instructions 

1. Candidates who cleared their 12th examination can join AFA through NDA.
2. Additionally, candidates who scored a Senior Division ‘C’ certificate in the Air Wing of the National Cadet Corps. They can apply to the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force through NCC Special Entry.
3. Candidates who cleared their graduation can apply for the AFA exam. In addition, they can apply through the CDS exam, which is conducted twice a year.
4. Also, male and female candidates can apply through Technical and Ground Duties through the AFCAT exam.
5.  In addition, postgraduate candidates can also join the Metrology Branch.
