The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) organizes the Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET). This is the state level entrance exam for teaching to recruit primary and secondary school teachers in the government school of Bihar. However, all the students who have completed their B.Ed. and want to teach jobs in government or private schools of Bihar must crack the BTET exam and score well. BTET eligibility criteria – Age limit
- The minimum age limit for the applicants is 21 years.
- The maximum age limit for the applicants is 35 years.
- A female SC/ ST/ OBC applicant is given the age relaxation of 5% which will depend upon the reservation criteria by the authorities of examination.
- Only 1 reservation rule is applied for the female category of the reservation category.
The BTET eligibility criteria – Educational Qualifications
Paper – I: Primary level; For the teachers of I – V class
- The candidates should pass the 10th grade with at least 45% marks in aggregate or in equivalent.
- At least 50% of the marks are required for those candidates who have completed their graduation degree in BA/ B.Sc/ B.Ed. Those students who are in their final four year bachelor of elementary education or pursuing 2 – a year diploma in elementary education or a 2 – year diploma in special education can also apply for the BTET Exam.
Paper – II: Upper Primary level; For the teachers of VI - VIII class
- Those candidates who are in or completed their graduation and passed in the final year of two years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) are welcome to apply in the BTET exam.
- The candidates who have done with their graduation scoring at least 50% of marks and appearing or passed in a program of 1 – a year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)/ passed or are appearing in the final year of 4 – years of Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.Sc. ED/ B.A. or B. El. Ed).
- The students who have completed their graduation wita h minimum of marks 45% and appeared or passed in 1 – a year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) can also fill out the form for the BTET exam.

Exam Pattern for the BTET Exam:
BTET Exam consists of two parts to recruit the school teachers at the different levels –
