CHSL stands for a Combined Higher Secondary level exam.
Staff Selection Commission combined higher secondary level exam or CHSL is the national level competitive exam that is held once a year to recruit officials.
It gives opportunities to candidates to serve in governmental offices, ministries and departments just after completing their higher secondary board exams.
The CHSL exam administrator is the staff selection commission responsible for managing all aspects of the exam. The body declares the result, cut-off, vacancies, syllabus and exam dates of the CHSL Exam.
Following are the posts that offer the CHSL exam to its selected candidates.
The DEO does coding, processing and safeguarding of the data under different ministries.
Lower division clerks' work is maintaining data, sorting documents, and updating official files.
The posting officers help in the postal services of various departments such as regional post office, mail motor services, and army postal services etc.
The best post among all these posts is considered junior secretariat assistant and lower division clerk.
The average salary of the qualified candidates falls between INR 19,000 - INR 63,000.
The CHSL exam takes place in both English and Hindi mediums.
There were three tiers in the CHSL exam earlier, but there was a slight change in the exam pattern in 2023.
It will take place in two stages, i.e.,
Tier 2 is further subdivided into the 3 parts, i.e.,
The candidates who pass all two levels become eligible and hold the post in government departments.
The mode of the tier 1 exam is online and objective, whereas that of tier 2 is offline, which is a descriptive type.
Candidates will lose 0.50 marks for every wrong attempt in Tier 1 and 1 mark in Tier 2.
The typing or skill test in tier 2 requires the English medium candidates to type a minimum of 35 words in 1 minute and Hindi medium candidates to type 30 words per minute.
So, if you are thinking of giving CHSL this year, your age must not be under 18 years and more than 27 years; however, there are age relaxations for category candidates such as SC, ST and PWD.
CHSL as mentioned above is a combined higher secondary, whereas CGL is a combined graduate-level exam.
Both exams are held to recruit officials in various governmental departments.
The main difference between these two is that the minimum qualification for the CGL is a graduation degree from any recognized academic institution, and for CHSL is a class 12 pass.
The exam patterns of both exams are also different.
Therefore, the CGL exam is comparatively hard to crack but also offers a higher salary in comparison to the CHSL exam. The officer recruited through CGL stands at a higher position than CHSL.
At last, candidates who wish to get recruited in CHSL have to work hard because there is a provision of negative marking in both tiers.
Lakhs of candidates will write CHSL 2023, but as per SSC notification, there are only 4500 seats this year.
So, boost your preparation through mocks and tests. Speed and accuracy are the two keys to success in the exam.
Try to practice as much as you can, make study plans, and be consistent and sincere with your study.
Questions are sometimes repeated in the CHSL, so try to solve previous years' papers. It will give you an idea about the questions that are going to come in the exam.
