Dr. N. Kamakodi, who joined the bank as a Deputy General Manager in June 2003 and later rose through the ranks to General Manager in March 2005, Executive Director in October 2006, and Executive President in January 2011, has been named Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 1, 2011, according to Reserve Bank of India approvals.

CUB's Brief History

In 1957, the bank acquired the assets and liabilities of the CommonWealth Bank Limited and annexed the bank's five branches in Aduthurai, Kodavasal, Valangaiman, Jayankondacholapuram, and Ariyalur.

Shri. R. A. Venkataramani Iyer became Chairman of the Bank in 1963, a position he held until 1969.

In April 1965, the Bank amalgamated with two other local banks, 'The City Forward Bank Limited' and 'The Union Bank Limited,' resulting in the addition of six more branches, namely Kumbakonam-Town, Nannilam, Koradacherry, Tiruvidaimarudur, Tirupanandal, and Kuttalam. As a result, the name of the bank was changed to 'The Kumbakonam City Union Bank Limited'.
