For Postgraduate Courses
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field from a recognized university.
  • The minimum age limit is 19 years as of 31st August of the year of admission.
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

Exam Pattern

The ICAR exam is conducted in online mode and consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The total duration of the exam is 2.5 hours for undergraduate courses and 3 hours for postgraduate courses. The exam pattern is as follows: For Undergraduate Courses
  • The exam consists of 150 MCQs.
  • The questions are based on physics, chemistry, biology/ mathematics/ agriculture subjects.
  • Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • The maximum marks for the exam are 600.
For Postgraduate Courses
  • The exam consists of 160 MCQs.
  • The questions are based on the relevant subject of the course.
  • Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • The maximum marks for the exam are 640.
