What is KVPY?

'Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana' KVPY is a program established by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, in 1999 to encourage basic science students to pursue research careers in the natural sciences. This program aims to identify talented and motivated students and encourage them to pursue careers in research.

The program aims to help students reach their potential and ensure that the country's best scientific research and development talent is trained. Selected KVPY Scholars have access to generous scholarships and emergency grants through the pre-doctoral level. Level or 5 years, whichever comes first. In addition, there are summer camps for KVPY scholarship holders at well-known research and educational institutions around the country. The Core Committee oversees both the day-to-day and academic aspects of the KVPY program.

About KVPY History

'Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana' (KVPY) is an ongoing program initiated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, in 1999 for students of basic sciences, engineering and medicine to pursue research careers in these fields. We encourage you to do so. Students must be selected from students who are in +1, +2, or any U.G. Science/medical programs and engineering students with aptitude for scientific research.

KVPY is:

• Financed by the Indian government's Department of Science and Technology (DST).
• Cooperation - IIT-Bombay Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi
• Zonal Centers - IIT-Bombay, ICMR, New Delhi, Indian Institute of Science Education - Kolkata, Homi Baba Center for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamentals, Mumbai
• Admin - Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

Objective of KVPY

This program aims to identify students with research talent and aptitude. Help them achieve their academic potential. Encourage them to pursue research careers in science and ensure the best R&D scientists grow in the country.

Advertisements for KVPY grants generally appear in all national newspapers on May 11 (Technology Day) and the second Sunday in July each year.

The student is selected from those students who, by their 1st year of the Undergraduate Program in Basic Science, she is studying in the XI standard, i.e. B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. Based on their performance on the aptitude test, the shortlisted students will be invited for an interview, and the selection process will be completed. Performance in both the aptitude test and the interview will be considered in awarding the scholarship.

Generous scholarships are offered up to Pre-Ph.D. Level up KVPY Fellow of choice.

KVPY Exam Eligibility Criteria

Students frequently misunderstand what KVPY SA, stream SX KVPY, and KVPY SB SX mean. We'll go over each one individually:

Stream SX KVPY:

• Students who are engaged in science courses in the 12th grade during the academic year 2021–2022 and who hope to enrol in undergraduate basic science programmes during the academic year 2022–2023.
• Additionally eligible are Cambridge International Examination Board second-year students who wish to enrol in Basic Sciences undergraduate programmes.

Stream SB KVPY

• At Stream SB, you are eligible to pass the 12th grade board exam and enter the first year Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Mathematics/International Studies. 

Age limit (KVPY) 

Students must be under 18 for the SA stream (students studying in class 11) and under 20 for the SX/SB stream (students studying in class 12 or freshmen).

• Students must be citizens of India.
