NSIC History

The NSIC was established in 1955 as a government-owned organisation in India. However, in the early years, NSIC focused on providing marketing assistance to small industries by helping them participate in trade fairs and exhibitions. Also, to promote their products through various initiatives.

Moreover, the organisation also provided training to small industries through its Small Industries Service Institutes (SISIs) and Entrepreneur Development Institutes (EDIs).

Furthermore, in the 1970s, NSIC expanded its activities to include financing assistance for small industries. They do it through various schemes, such as the PMEGP and the CLCSS. However, this helped small industries to access funding and grow their businesses.

In the 1980s, NSIC introduced several new initiatives to support the growth of small industries in India. Such as the PCRS and the Micro and Small Enterprise Cluster Development Programme. However, these schemes helped improve small industries' competitiveness and promote growth.

Additionally, in recent years, NSIC has continued to evolve and adapt its activities to meet the changing needs of small industries. However, the organisation has introduced new programs and schemes to support the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Also, to promote their competitiveness in the global market.

NSIC has also worked closely with various government agencies, private sector organisations, and international organisations. As they support and assist small industries in India.

Thus, today, NSIC plays a vital role in the development and growth of small industries in India. As they provide various services, implement schemes, and support initiatives.

NSIC Operations

NSIC operates through a worldwide network of offices and technical centres. From its headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, NSIC manages operations in African countries.

However, as of January 2018, the Johannesburg office has been closed and is now only responsible for domestic MSME Units.

Furthermore, NSIC has established a Training and Incubation Centre. Also, with a large workforce, NSIC delivers a package of services suited to the requirements of the MSME sector.

NSIC recently collaborated with Rubique.com to facilitate lending for the MSME market. Rubique and NSIC will work together to create an interface to facilitate loans for MSMEs, allowing quicker decision-making and evaluation.
