How to Become a GDS BPM 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age, with 40 years as the upper age limit. 
  • The applicant must have passed at least a 10th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board. Also, they should have proper knowledge of the local language. Some posts require knowledge of computers.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of India and have valid government-approved photo identity proof. 

Selection Process

  • All applicants interested in the Branch Post Master role must first register for the exam conducted by the Indian Department of Posts. 
  • The exam is a total of 100 marks with a duration of 120 mins. The examination will consist of the following subjects.
  • General Knowledge
  • Mathematics
  • General English
  • Numerical Ability testing questions. 
  • The results of the selection process are declared on the official website of the Indian Posts. 
  • As a GDS BPM, your duties include maintaining records, supervising staff, dispatching mail, handling customer complaints and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Additionally, the Branch Post Master is responsible for promoting Government Schemes such as Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana, Money Depositing, etc., and should try to open the maximum number of accounts in their branch.
