GETCO

The full form of GETCO is Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited. A power transmission business in the Indian state of Gujarat is called the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO). It was established in May 1999 and has a Companies Act of 1956 registration. 

As part of attempts to reform the electricity industry and in the context of liberalization, the firm was pushed by the former Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) as its fully owned subsidiary. The business is currently a division of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam, which took over for the GEB.

GSECL acquired all of GEB's generation facilities and an organization that has been around since 1993, as part of the aforementioned exercise.

The effective date for the transfer of assets, liabilities, procedures, and staff further extends to 1st April 2005 by the Gujarati government by notification dated 31st March 2005. Along with managing coordination tasks, GUVNL also manages trading and bulk supply operations.

GETCO’s Parent Company GUVNL

In the Indian state of Gujarat, the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) is the governmental body responsible for regulating electricity. The Gujarati government owns it outright. Under the Companies Act of 1956, after being found in May 1999. In the context of liberalization and as part of efforts towards reorganizing the electricity industry with the goal of boosting efficiency in administration and service delivery to customers, the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) named the firm as its own sole subsidiary.

In order to restructure the electricity industry and increase the effectiveness of management and service delivery to consumers. The Gujarat Electricity Industry (Re-organization & Regulation) Act of 2003 and the Electricity Act of 2003 were both passed by the state governments of Gujarat and the Central Government of India, respectively.

The Central Government of India passed the Electricity Act in 2003, while the Gujarat Government approved the Gujarat Electricity Industry (Re-organization & Regulation) Act in 2003. And other items of the former Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) to the new entities. As a result, GEB divides into seven firms with operational responsibility for trading, generation, transmission, and distribution as of 1 April 2005.

The Gujarat government established a Gujarat Electricity Board named Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited. Since GUVNL holds 100% of the shares in the other six businesses, they have deemed subsidiary companies of GUVNL under the terms of the Companies Act of 1956 as of 1 April 2005.

The GUVNL supervises, coordinates, and facilitates the activities of its six subsidiary companies, as well as the bulk purchase and sale of energy. Electricity generation is a business that the GSECL owns. 

Electricity transmission is a business that GETCO owns. The UGVCL, DGVCL, MGVCL, and PGVCL operate the distribution of electricity as a business in Gujarat's northern, southern, central, and western regions, respectively.
