What Is GJEPC?

GJEPC stands for the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, an organisation established by the Indian government to promote the export of Indian gems and jewellery products to other countries.  The GJEPC assists and supports Indian gem and jewellery exporters and works to boost the growth of the Indian gems and jewellery industry by organising international exhibitions, trade fairs, and other trade promotional activities. The GJEPC is headquartered in Mumbai and is important in promoting and facilitating the export of Indian jewellery and gem products worldwide.

History of GJEPC?

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) was established by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 1966 to promote the export of Indian gems and jewellery products.  It has its headquarters in Mumbai and regional offices in several cities. With nearly 7,000 exporters, the GJEPC represents the Indian gem and jewellery industry and advocates for policy changes to the government. In 1998, it was given autonomous status to function independently.

The vision of GJEPC is to establish the Indian gem and jewellery industry as the most desirable and reliable source of gems and jewellery products in the world market. GJEPC aims to achieve this by promoting excellence in design, innovation, and quality and fostering sustainable and responsible business practices in the industry. Additionally, GJEPC envisions the Indian gem and jewellery industry as a key contributor to India's economic growth and development by generating employment, creating wealth, and enhancing India's image and reputation as a global leader in the gems and jewellery sector.

The mission of GJEPC is to promote and develop the export of gems and jewellery products from India to global markets.  GJEPC aims to achieve this mission by the following means as:
  • Providing support and assistance to Indian gem and jewellery exporters,
  • Promoting the adoption of international best practices and enhancing the competitiveness of the Indian gems and jewellery industry.
Additionally, GJEPC works in many ways, such as:

  • Facilitating the growth and expansion of the Indian gem and jewellery sector through various initiatives, such as organising trade shows, exhibitions, and educational programs.

How to Register to GJEPC 

To register for GJEPC membership, follow these steps: Step 1: Go to the official site and click "Registration." Step 2: Fill out the new registration form and submit it. Step 3: The user will receive an email containing their credentials after user registration.  Step 4: Sign in.  Step 5: Begin filling out the forms, starting with the Application form for Associate Membership. The system will automatically move to the next state once the current form is saved.  Step 6: Payment of fees can be initiated through the challan form using net banking, debit card, credit card, or NEFT.  Step 7: Print all forms from the "Print Application/Challan form" section.

Awards for GJEPC Membership

Renewal of GJEPC RCMC Documents

The following documents must be submitted to the head office or regional office of GJEPC. To apply for GJEPC membership, the following documents are required:
  • A self-attested copy of the import-export code number issued by the affiliated authority 
  • The original Registration Certificate (RCMC)
  • A copy of the online-generated newsletter 
  • A self-attested partnership document (if applicable) 
  •  The Memorandum and Article of Association (if the firm is a private limited company). 
  • An authenticated true copy of the SSI, IEM, 
  • MSME Registration Certificate for Producer Exporter issued by the concerned authority is also needed. A cover letter is also required.
