The Haryana Public Service Commission is a State level examination conducted by the Government of Haryana.  The HPSC exam conducts every year by the government of Harnaya. This examination conducts for hire in the civil services for Group A and Group B posts. 

There are different posts available in Haryana civil services. It includes the position of Superintendent of Police, Block Development, panchayat Officer, Traffic Manager, Excise and Taxation, etc. The Location of the requirement is only available in Haryana state.

After qualifying HPSC candidates will be eligible for various state government positions.

Concessions of HPSC Examination

This exam provides the opportunity for the candidates to serve in Civil Services. Also, Candidates can want a government job as well. There are various fields candidates can select according to their interests.

Eligibility of HPSC Exam

Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India. 

Educational Qualification: For Applying to this Examination, the Candidate must complete their graduation in any stream from a recognised university. Candidate has to fill in the details of graduation during the application process.

If the candidate has to apply for Deputy Superintendent of Police, physical standards are also required.

Age limit: The age limit for the candidates applying for Haryana Civil Services is 18 to 42 years. There are different criteria for the age limit of DSP. For the post of DSP, the candidate must be between 18 TO 27 years. 

Note: 5 years of age relaxation are given to the Schedules cast and the Scheduled tribes.

Reservations: Reserve Category candidates of Haryana can get the reservation in the HPSC exam. The Haryana candidates should possess the domicile certificate.

The Pattern of the HPSC Exam

The Haryana Public Service Commission exams are conducted in three phases. After qualifying the above three stages, i.e. Prelims, Mains and Interview, candidates can get a job in their respective fields of civil services.

  • Prelims are objective-type papers. A total of 200 questions are asked in Prelims. General studies and General aptitude both are 100 marks each.
  • The mains consist of four subjective papers, i.e. English (essay), Hindi (essay), General Studies, Optional 1, and Optional 2. Combining, the mains is 600 marks.
  • Lastly, an Interview is conducted, which is for 75 marks.

After qualifying for the above steps, candidates can become part of Haryana Civil services. 

HPSC Preparation Strategy 

  1. Before preparing for the HPSC exam, candidates should analyze the complete exam pattern for a better understanding.
  2. Also got through the previous year's question papers which will help to understand the level of the examination. 
  3. Make a proper study plan. 
  4. Regular question writing practice for mains examination. Also, Analyze your mistakes and work on them.

Upcoming Vacancies or Notification of HPSC

HPSC Application form 2023 is available on its official website. The Online registration portal will open after 12 march onwards. The 95 Vacancies are for the year 2023. The registration process is carried out via online mode. Candidates are advised to visit the official website regularly for updates with the notifications.

Application Fee for HPSC

 The Application fee of HPSC for the candidates is mentioned below:

  1. The application fee for Male candidates of the general category and

      reserve category of other states is 1000 rupees.

  1. For Female candidates from Haryana and other states females the

      application fee is 250 Rupees.

  1. The Male and Female candidate of the SC and EWS category candidate

      is 250 rupees.

  1.   For the person with a disability category candidate, there is no

     application fee required.

Is the HCS exam tough?

The Haryana civil services exam is one of the toughest government exams. This exam is specially conducted for the Haryana state. This conducts the selection of various posts in civil services.  Candidates can join Civil services in Haryana after qualifying for this examination.

How Many attempts do you get with HPSC?

The unreserved category candidate can get three attempts. However, the number of attempts is not specified by HPSC. Candidates who can fulfil the age limit and the basic criteria of the examination can apply for the same.

How many papers are there in the HPSC Prelims examination?

There are two Papers in the HPSC Prelims examination, i.e. Paper 1 General Studies and Paper 2 General Aptitude. In general studies, 100 questions are asked which are of 100 marks. Similarly in General Aptitude, 100 questions are asked, and each question consists of one mark. Also, 0.25 marks were deducted for every wrong answer. The Duration of each paper in prelims is 2 hours. The prelims are only qualifying in nature.

How Many papers are there in the HPSC Mains examination?

In Mains, there are five subjective papers.  The main examination determines the merit of the candidate. The list of HPSC mains exam is as follows: English (essay)-  The English paper is 100 marks, and the exam lasts 3 hours. Hindi (essay)- This also consists of 100 marks and the duration of the examination is 3 hours. General studies also consist of 100 marks and a 3-hour duration. There are two optional papers - Optional 1 and optional 2. Both are Optional is of 150 marks each.

What is the salary of an HSC officer?

There are different grades in HSC. The salary varies according to the post of the candidate. The salary of different posts is listed below: Officer in HCS executive branch - 77000 to 83000 Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) - 71000- 76000 District Food and Supplies controller - 62000 to 66000 Assistant Excise and Taxation officer -  54000- 58000 The minimum salary of others is INR 44,900.

What is the age limit for the DSP?

The candidate who applies for the post of DSP through the HPSC exam, the age of the candidate must be between 18 to 14 years. There is a relaxation in age, For the reserve category candidates.
