"Institutions Innovation Council" is the full form of “IIC”.

What is Institutions Innovation Council (IIC)?

The institution's Innovation Council (IIC) was launched by the Ministry of Education (MoE). To systematically encourage the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in educational institutions, the Ministry of Education works with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).

The purpose of IICs is to include many teachers, students, and staff members in different innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities. Such as problem-solving solving, creativity, Design Thinking, Proof of Concept development, IPR, project handling and management at the Pre-incubation and Incubation stages, etc., to construct and stabilize the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in HEIs.

Objectives of IIC 

• To establish a thriving regional innovation environment.
• HEIs' startup-supporting mechanisms.
• Build an ecosystem that works for concept scouting and idea pre-incubation. Improve students' cognitive skills in technology.

Functions of the Institution Innovation Council

• Promote innovation in the institution using various means.
• To carry out different innovation and entrepreneurship-related initiatives as directed by the Central MIC in a time-bound manner.
• Create a mentor pool for student innovators by organizing periodic workshops/seminars/interactions with investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals.
• Connect with other entrepreneurs and national entrepreneurship development agencies.
• Create an institution's innovation site to highlight creative projects carried out by the teachers and students of the institution.
