Examination Pattern

The SSC JSO examination consists of two tiers: Tier I and Tier II.

Tier I: The Tier I examination is a computer-based test that consists of 100 multiple-choice questions from the following sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Moreover, the duration of the examination is 60 minutes and carries a weightage of 200 marks.

Tier II: The Tier II examination is also a computer-based test. It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions from the subject of statistics. However, the duration of the examination is 120 minutes and carries a weightage of 200 marks.

Candidates must clear both Tier I and Tier II exams to be considered for selection. Hence, the final selection of the candidates will be based on their combined performance in both the Tier-I and Tier-II examination.

For General Intelligence & Reasoning, the topics covered are: Analogies, Similarities, Differences, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discriminating Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal and Figure Classification, Arithmetical Number Series, etc.

For Statistics, the topics covered are: Collection, Classification, and Tabulation of Statistical Data, Measures of Central Tendency, Dispersion, Moments, Skewness. It also includes Kurtosis, Correlation and Regression, Probability Theory, Random Variable and Probability Distributions. Additionally, Sampling Theory, Statistical Inference, Analysis of Variance, Time Series Analysis, Index Numbers, etc.

For General Studies (Economics and Finance) includes: Starts with Introduction to Microeconomics, Consumer Behavior and Demand, Production and Cost, Market Structures. Additionally it includes, Price Determination in Different Market Structures, Introduction to Macroeconomics, National Income Accounting, Money and Banking. Also, it includes Inflation, Government Budget and the Economy.
