What is KVS?

KVS, or Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, was established in 1963 and is run under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, otherwise known to many as MHRD.

The aim of these schools is to provide quality education to the children of Central Government staff with transfer issues.

In other words, they are taken care of by the Central Ministry, Government of India (GoI).

There are currently 1,252 Kendriya Vidyalayas spread across India, with over lakhs of students. It produces some of the best students in India who foray into big companies/ government jobs or startups.

Other than this, the KVS exam is a recruitment hub for teaching and non-teaching roles.

How to Apply for the Exam?

To apply for the KVS exam, aspirants should do the following:

  • Firstly, the applicant must first go to the official KVS website.
  • Secondly, click on “Recruitment” then proceed to the “LDCE exam”.
  • Then select the vacancy you wish to apply for, then proceed with the application form.
  • Fill out all the necessary details in the application form, then upload all the necessary documents in addition to your photograph and signature.
  • Make sure to verify your details and proceed to pay.
  • Lastly, take a printout of your form

Eligibility Criteria for KVS

The eligibility criteria for the KVS exam are as follows:

Post Qualification
Primary Teacher (PRT) The candidate should have cleared his/ her senior secondary exam and B.Ed. or D.Ed. course.
Postgraduate Teacher (PGT) The candidate should have completed
  • M.Sc/ MCA or B.Tech/ B.E/ B.Sc
  • B.Ed Degree
Trained Graduate Teacher The candidate should have cleared
  • Any graduation
  • B.Ed
Assistant Commissioner The candidate should have
  • A master’s degree (from a recognised university only) with at least 45% marks
  • B.Ed degree
  • Experience of at least 3 years as a principal with a pay band ranging between INR 15,600 - 39,100
Vice Principal (VP) The candidate should have
  • A master’s degree from any recognised university with at least 50% marks
  • B.Ed Degree
  • 2 years of experience working as a VP in a state or central organization/ 6 years of experience working as a PGT in any state or central organization / Overall, 10 years of experience as a TGT are required, with at least 3 years of experience as a PGT.
Principal The candidate should have
  • A master’s degree with 50%
  • B.Ed Degree
  • Should be or have been a principal in a central or state government organisation with a salary range of 78,800 to 2,09,200.
Librarian The candidate should have
  • A bachelor's degree in library science or a one-year diploma in library science
  • Knowledge of Hindi and English
Finance Officer The candidate should have any of these
  • A degree in B.com with at least 50% marks and 4 years of experience working as an auditor
  • A degree in M.Com. with 50 percent marks and 3 years of experience working as an auditor
  • CA or ICWA or MBA or PGDM and two years of experience in auditing
  • The candidate should also have good experience with computer appliances.

Who is eligible for the KVS exam?

The following people are eligible for the KVS exam: Those who have passed senior secondary with at least 50% marks in addition to a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) Those who have passed senior secondary with at least 50% marks in addition to a 2-year Diploma in Education Lastly, the candidate should have qualified for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by the Government of India (GoI).
