A business school and independent, non-profit institution of higher learning, MICA - formerly
Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad is situated outside of Ahmedabad, a city in western India. The only housing institute in India, and maybe the entire Asia-Pacific region, MICA was founded in 1991 to develop leaders in the field of strategic marketing and communication. MICA offers a variety of academic programmes, including residential Post Graduate Management Studies programmes and a Fellows Program in Management (Communication).

History of Mudra Institute of Communications
A. G. Krishnamurthy of Mudra Communications founded MICA in 1991 as a stand-alone postgraduate academic institution. In 1993, the primary academic building opened, and MICA moved to its current location at Shela. It was also the year when Binod C. Agrawal, the organization's first director, started working there. In 1994, the first class of the PGPD programme in Communications was launched. Director Atul Tandon presided from 2001 to 2009. The director and President at the moment are Shailendra Raj Mehta.
MICA Admission Procedure
The institute provides MDP and FDP programmes, as well as residential and online courses. All CAT/ XAT/ GMAT test takers must appear in MICAT as part of the three-step admissions procedure to MICA, which also includes the final selection. A computer-based test called MICAT is required for applicants to MICA in the class of 2023–2025. 216 seats make up the PGDM intake at MICA.
Additionally, MICA will begin offering a new course in 2021 called "Global Governance, Change, and Transformation," which addresses the post-COVID-19 business environment and how to navigate it.
Candidates can register online on the Institute's official website if they want to enroll in the MICA courses. Candidates must take the CAT, XAT, GMAT, and MICAT to be shortlisted for the PGDM-C final selection stage.
- The MICA flagship programme, the PGDM in Communication (PGDM-C), is available in five specializations. It is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as comparable to an MBA degree and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) (AIU).
- The Institute also offers the PGDM programme, which is required to include an Urban Impact Project worth six credits. It is optional for PGDM-C students, though.
- Global Corporate Governance, Policy and Ethics, Legal Aspects of Business, and Decoding Customer Engagement are additional elective courses for PGDM students.
- There are four alternative specializations available for the Fellow Programme in Management Communications (FPM-C) offered by this Institute. This programme lasts for three years.
A Look Into MICA Academics
MICA provides several online and fully residential post-graduate certificate programmes in the fields of strategic communication and marketing. A fellow programme (doctoral level) is also available. For data analytics, luxury marketing, and consumer intelligence, MICA has worked with Emory University.
For marketing management and integrated marketing communications, MICA has teamed with Michigan State University (MSU) and Northwestern University. The Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (Communications) and Crafting Creative Communication are two of MICA's three residential programmes. The MICA flagship programme is called PGDM-C. The Fellow Program in Management (FPM) is a Ph.D. programme that MICA also provides (communication).
A new postgraduate programme called the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management will begin at MICA in 2019.
Highlights to be Aware of
The only residential institute in the Asia-Pacific area with a focus on developing leaders in strategic marketing and communication, MICA was established in 1991. The AICTE has given the institute its approval. At the PG level, MICA Ahmedabad offers three residential programmes and seven online programmes. The Post Graduate Certificate Program offers seven different specializations online, while the PGDM, FPM, and PGCP in Crafting Creative Communication are residential programmes (PGCP).
The institute has additionally created several Leadership and Management Development Programs, or LMDPs, for which it collaborated with premier global corporations, Indian corporate houses, public sector businesses, etc.
Placements at MICA
Since its start, MICA Ahmedabad has maintained a placement rate of 100%. A total of 179 students chose placements during the MICA placements 2020, and each one of them was given suitable job offers. Additionally, MICA offers scholarships that are given out following a student's overall academic performance and family wealth. According to the official report, 208 students applied to be part of the recruitment process in 2022.
Over the last two years, the institute has regularly attained a placement rate of 100%. However, compared to 2021, recruiters' participation decreased in 2022. According to placement statistics from the last two years, IT/ITES has regularly come out on top in terms of both the highest package and the number of offers made.

At the PG level, MICA Ahmedabad offers three residential and seven online programmes. Residential programmes offered by MICA include the PGDM (two-year), FPM, and PGCP in Crafting Creative Communication Programs (one year), while the online programme is known as the Post Graduation Certificate Program (PGCP), which offers seven different specializations.
