
The Full form of MNREGA is Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee. It is commonly referred to as MNREGA is a scheme launched by the Union government in 2021-22.
It was earlier called the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. This scheme is all about providing the right work to the right people in a right place. It follows article 46, which states to work for the economic upliftment and advancement of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled tribes without any discrimination.

This scheme is funded by the central government which bears all the cost of the work and the cost of material required. It is more of a demand-driven program that includes work like building roads to toilets. Apart from providing economic stability it also works to protect the environment, empowering rural women and adults, reduce migration of workers, and most importantly fostering social equity in rural areas.
