What is MSF?
"Maharashtra Security Force" is the full form of MSF. In Maharashtra, the Maharashtra State Security Corporation Act of 2010 authorised the establishment of the Maharashtra Security Force (MSF). MSF is a state security organisation.
In addition, the Maharashtra Security Force was set up to better protect and secure the Maharashtra State Government, Central Government offices, businesses, employees and so on.
The Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC) is a legal entity. The officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) heads the MSSC.
Objectives of MSF
MSF seeks to provide safety and security for government and commercial organisations through qualified and well-equipped personnel.
Maharashtra Security Force was set up to protect and maintain the security of government buildings in Maharashtra state, Public sector organizations etc.
Duties of MSF
Each supervisor and member of the MSF must perform the following duties:
- They comply with and promptly carry out all instructions given under the law.
- Guard and defend the seat of government within its local boundaries.
- Guard the sites of other agencies, companies, or institutions for security and protection.
Training of the Maharashtra Security Force
Once selected, members of the force undergo extensive training. Regular training includes:
- Physical toughness and endurance
- Drill
- Weapons training and handling
- Task-specific tactical requirements
- Information on bombs, IEDs, and methods of detecting them
- Combat fire
- Population and traffic control
- Disaster planning and emergency procedures
- The Indian Constitution and other laws
- Rescue procedures, first aid, etc.
Appointment of Members of MSF
The following senior officials are eligible for appointment by the Government of Maharashtra in one or more numbers.
- Rakshadhikari,
- Upa-Rakshadhikari
- The officer of the state government selects these additional higher officials.
The Rakshadhikari, Upa-Rakshadhikari, and all other senior officers shall be authorized to exercise the rights and perform the duties specified in the Maharashtra State Security Corporation Act, 2010.
In addition, the defence officials of the Government of Maharashtra and the Force shall have the power to select with the prior approval of the State Government.

- The Police (Incitement to Disaffection) Act, 1922, and the Police Forces Act govern the behaviour of force members (restriction of rights).
