NIELIT

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) is an Autonomous Scientific Society formerly the DOEACC Society. It operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MoE&IT), Government of India. 

The primary objective of NIELIT is to conduct Human Resource Development and related activities in the field of Information, Electronics, and Communications Technology (IECT). 

NIELIT provides both Formal and Non-Formal Education in the field of IECT and is committed to developing industry-oriented quality education and training programs in cutting-edge areas.

NIELIT Overview 

NIELIT has been dedicated to establishing standards to become the country's premier IECT Examination and Certification institution. Additionally, it serves as a National Examination Body that accredits institutes/organizations offering IT courses in the non-formal sector.

At present day, NIELIT has nearly 41 offices located in Calicut, Gorakhpur, Chennai, Srinagar, Agartala, Ajmer, Aizawl, Delhi, Gangtok, Guwahati, Leh, Lucknow, Jammu, Kolkata, Aurangabad, Chandigarh, Bhubaneshwar, Shimla, Shillong, Senapati, Chuchuyimlang, Churachandpur, Dibrugarh, Imphal, Haridwar, Kohima, Kokrajhar, Kurukshetra, Majuli, Mandi, Itanagar, Jorhat, Pali, Ranchi, Lunglei, Silchar, Pasighat, Patna,  Tezpur, Tura, Tezu with its Headquarters at New Delhi.

Furthermore, it is well networked throughout, with a network of approximately 900+ Accredited Training Institutions for the training of O/A/B/C level courses and a network of approximately 10,000+ Facilitation Centres engaged in digital literacy training.

Course Offered by NIELIT

NIELIT offers four levels of courses in the non-formal sector, which are as follows:

  • 'O' Level - Equivalent to the Foundation Level.
  • 'A' Level - Equivalent to an Advanced Diploma.
  • 'B' Level - Equivalent to an MCA (Master of Computer Applications).
  • 'C' Level - Designed to be at the level of an MTech (Master of Technology).

Exam Syllabus and Eligibility Criteria of NIELIT

‘O’ Level Course

The NIELIT 'O' Level certification is a one-year certification program recognized by the Government of India's Ministry of Human Resource Development. The certification, available through the NIELIT/DOEACC Scheme, is equivalent to foundation-level courses in computer applications.

Candidates who have completed the NIELIT 'O' Level certification are eligible for employment opportunities in both the Central and State governments.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for pursuing the NIELIT (DOEACC) 'O' Level certification are as follows:

  1. Completion of 10+2 education.
  2. Possession of a Government-recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after completing class 10, along with an accredited 'O' level course completed concurrently during the third year of the said polytechnic engineering diploma course.
  3. Direct applicants must have completed 10+2 or possess an ITI Certificate (one year) after class 10 and have one-year relevant experience.

‘A’ Level Course

A Level course is a level 6 NSQF aligned advanced diploma in computers (IT). 

For candidates who register for the 'A' Level course in Information Technology after passing the 'O' Level, the minimum period to cover the contents of the 'A' Level course in Information Technology is one year

  • NIELIT “A” level is held twice a year (in January and July) by NIELIT HQ in Delhi. There are numerous examination centers located throughout India. And students can select an exam center based on their convenience while filling out their application forms.
  • Each paper is worth 100 points, and the exam lasts three hours. The examination fee for each theory paper is Rs 750/- plus a processing fee of Rs 100/-.
  • The practical examination for the NIELIT"A" Level course will be held at the Institute under the supervision of the DOEACC Society in New Delhi. 
  • Also remember, while filling out the online examination form, students must select the option to appear in practical examination(s) and pay a fee of Rs 500/- per paper. However, each practical examination lasts three hours.

Eligibility for ‘A’ level

  • After class 10, obtain a Level 'O' diploma or a government-recognized polytechnic engineering diploma. This is followed by an accredited 'A' Level course in each case.
  • In each case, a government-recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2/graduate and an accredited 'A' Level course are required. 
  • Also remember, even after passing the 'A' Level, the diploma will be awarded only after completing the academic stream, i.e. polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2 or degree.
  • Level 'O'/Government-recognized polytechnic engineering diploma/Graduate, followed by one-year relevant experience in each case. 
  • And relevant experience denotes job experience in IT, including teaching as a faculty member in a recognized institution, but excludes coaching.

‘B’ Level Course

According to the NIELIT Scientist B Exam Pattern a candidate must pass both rounds: a written examination and an interview. And the objective paper of the NIELIT Scientist B Written examination contains 120 questions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with a B.E. or B.tech degree or a post-graduate degree in MCA, M.E, or M.Tech are eligible.
  • Lastly, graduates from open universities or distance learning programs are also eligible to apply for the NIELIT Scientist B job profile.

The C Level Course is designed to provide knowledge in computer programming and system management fundamentals. 

The C Level Course aims to develop computer professional Project Managers, Consultants, System Specialists, System Administration, R&D Scientists, and Faculty who will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to perform duties associated with the C-level Course.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with a B.E, B.Tech, MCA, M.SC, MBA, Masters in Math/ Statistics, or technical graduation in computer fields may apply.
  • Candidates who have completed the B-level Course are eligible.
  • Those who will appear directly must have one and a half years of relevant experience in the IT sector.
  • MBA (or equivalent) with BSc / BA (Mathematics / Statistics and advanced computing fundamentals are also eligible.
