The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) is an Autonomous Scientific Society formerly the DOEACC Society. It operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MoE&IT), Government of India.
The primary objective of NIELIT is to conduct Human Resource Development and related activities in the field of Information, Electronics, and Communications Technology (IECT).
NIELIT provides both Formal and Non-Formal Education in the field of IECT and is committed to developing industry-oriented quality education and training programs in cutting-edge areas.
NIELIT has been dedicated to establishing standards to become the country's premier IECT Examination and Certification institution. Additionally, it serves as a National Examination Body that accredits institutes/organizations offering IT courses in the non-formal sector.
At present day, NIELIT has nearly 41 offices located in Calicut, Gorakhpur, Chennai, Srinagar, Agartala, Ajmer, Aizawl, Delhi, Gangtok, Guwahati, Leh, Lucknow, Jammu, Kolkata, Aurangabad, Chandigarh, Bhubaneshwar, Shimla, Shillong, Senapati, Chuchuyimlang, Churachandpur, Dibrugarh, Imphal, Haridwar, Kohima, Kokrajhar, Kurukshetra, Majuli, Mandi, Itanagar, Jorhat, Pali, Ranchi, Lunglei, Silchar, Pasighat, Patna, Tezpur, Tura, Tezu with its Headquarters at New Delhi.
Furthermore, it is well networked throughout, with a network of approximately 900+ Accredited Training Institutions for the training of O/A/B/C level courses and a network of approximately 10,000+ Facilitation Centres engaged in digital literacy training.
NIELIT offers four levels of courses in the non-formal sector, which are as follows:
‘O’ Level Course
The NIELIT 'O' Level certification is a one-year certification program recognized by the Government of India's Ministry of Human Resource Development. The certification, available through the NIELIT/DOEACC Scheme, is equivalent to foundation-level courses in computer applications.
Candidates who have completed the NIELIT 'O' Level certification are eligible for employment opportunities in both the Central and State governments.

‘A’ Level Course
A Level course is a level 6 NSQF aligned advanced diploma in computers (IT).
For candidates who register for the 'A' Level course in Information Technology after passing the 'O' Level, the minimum period to cover the contents of the 'A' Level course in Information Technology is one year

‘B’ Level Course
According to the NIELIT Scientist B Exam Pattern a candidate must pass both rounds: a written examination and an interview. And the objective paper of the NIELIT Scientist B Written examination contains 120 questions.

‘C’ Level Course
The C Level Course is designed to provide knowledge in computer programming and system management fundamentals.
The C Level Course aims to develop computer professional Project Managers, Consultants, System Specialists, System Administration, R&D Scientists, and Faculty who will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to perform duties associated with the C-level Course.
