  • Aspirants need to have a minimum of 50%-60% aggregate marks in the 12th grade from a recognised board. Further, they need to get a two-year Diploma in Physical Education programme.
  • Additionally, candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed) can also apply for a PTI teacher's post in different schools and colleges across the country.
  • Furthermore, individuals who have a two-year Master's Degree in Physical Education, commonly known as M.P.Ed, are able to apply for university-level PTI jobs. With an M.P.Ed degree, they can get recruited to the HOD's position in colleges and universities. Moreover, they are the ideal fit for as well as higher-level positions in government departments such as the Sports Authority of India.

In addition to educational qualifications, PTI teacher aspirants need to meet the minimum age criteria. These include the following:

  • In order to pursue a B.P.Ed programme, candidates must be at least 19 years old.
  • On the other hand, to take admission into diploma courses, they need to be 16 years or more in age.

Multiple colleges conduct entrance tests to offer admission to eligible candidates in PTI courses.   • AP PECET or the Andhra Pradesh Physical Education Common Entrance Test
  • DUET or Delhi University Entrance Test
  • MAH B.P.Ed CET or Maharashtra Bachelor of Physical Education Common Entrance Test

In addition to these courses, PTI aspirants can also choose to pursue the following specialisations from a college or university:

  • B.Sc in Physical Education: it is a three-year undergraduate degree that teaches students about scientific methodologies used in physical exercise. These include nutrition, physiology, and body composition.
  • B.A. in Physical Education: This specialisation consists of three years of professional training. Additionally, during the course tenure, students learn the underlying principles of physical fitness and the basic anatomy of the human body.
  • B.A. Yoga: This undergraduate degree provides the foundation for learning and performing yoga.

After pursuing a diploma, bachelor's, or master's degree in physical education, many people choose to work as teachers in schools or colleges. However, there are multiple other career options for them. Some of the high-paying and fulfilling career fields for PTI professionals include the following:

  • Sports Coach: The basic functions of a sports coach includes educating, coaching, and supervising the operations of an individual or a team. Through these functions, coaches help them to participate in competitions at national or international levels.
  • Health Coach: They are in charge of providing people with food and lifestyle changes to help them stay fit and live healthy lifestyles.
  • Physical Instructor: It is a specialist that teaches various strengthening and stretching exercises to increase people's engagement in fitness activities.
  • Yoga trainer: It is a professional who actively participates in yoga and offers training sessions to individuals.
