TGT

TGT stands for Trained Graduate Teacher, a term for a teacher who has completed his/her teaching training. TGTs are trained graduates who are eligible to teach classes 6 to 8. If a person has completed their graduation with an undergraduate course from any nationally recognized university in India, then that person is a TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher).

However, they need to complete the B.Ed course and qualify for exams like CTET and TET to get eligible for recruitment in TGT posts. Above all, these teachers can teach in any school in India whether it is government or private.

TGT Eligibility Criteria

TGTs are eligible to teach students who are in class 10th and below class 10th. If someone is preparing to become TGT then he/she must go through the following eligibility criteria. The following eligibility criteria are necessary for various recruitments for TGT posts.

  • A bachelor's degree (B.Ed or equivalent degree) with at least 45% marks from a recognized board.
  • The maximum age limit is 35 years for trained graduate teachers.
  • Professional knowledge of Hindi / English
  • Have at least one of the following optional subjects at an optional level i.e. English, Natural/Physical Science, Mathematics, and Social Science.
  • If teachers have postgraduate degrees and TGT then they are called PGT (Post Graduate Trained Teachers). They are eligible to teach above class 10th in the school.

Which Subjects are Taught by TGT?

TGT teaches the following subjects mentioned below. Thus trained graduate teachers are required to teach the following subjects to classes 6th to 8th.

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • History
  • Economics
  • Local language
  • Geography

CTET for TGT

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is one of the most essential qualifications to become a TGT. Trained graduate teachers must qualify for CTET or other states' TET to become eligible to apply for various TGT recruitment exams.

Candidates will not be able to apply for the recruitment exam without CTET or State TET certification. Hence, candidates need to clear their CTET or State TET exam after the completion of their graduation and B.Ed course to be eligible for the recruitment exams conducted across the country.

After giving this TGT recruitment exam, candidates also have to pass an interview. If you pass this interview then you are made a TGT teacher. You can give the exam by applying for it.

How to Apply for TGT Recruitment Exams?

It is important to understand how to apply for TGT recruitment exams. Candidates can only use the official website of the appropriate authority to fill out the application form for TGT recruitment exams.

  • After successful registration, candidates have to upload their scanned photograph and signature.

  • The last step is to print the online application form for future use.
