Exam Pattern
The
TNPSC Exam Pattern is the same as the most of the exams held by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission and follows the three-stage exam pattern, namely Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview or Personality Test.
Exam patterns for each category are listed below:
- Group 1
The paper consists of three stages, first is prelims which is an objective paper of 300 marks for 3 hours duration, second is mains which is a total descriptive paper of 750 marks for 9 hours duration and last is the interview round of 100 marks in which the candidates reaches after clearing prelims and mains.
- Group 2
The exam consists of 2 stages first is prelims which is the objective paper of 300 marks for 3 hours duration and the second is mains which consists of a descriptive paper of 400 marks.
- Group 3
There is only one objective paper of 300 marks for 3 hours duration
- Group 4
There is only one objective paper of 300 marks for 3 hours duration
- Combines Engineering Service Exam
The exam consists of two objective papers of 2 hours duration, one paper carrying 300 marks and the other paper carrying 200 marks.
- Assistance System Engineering Exam
The exam consists of three objective papers, Paper I is of 200 marks for 3 hours duration, Paper II is of 50 marks for 1 hour duration and Paper III is of 150 marks for 2 hours duration.
- District Education Officer Exam
The paper consists of three stages, first is prelims which is an objective paper of 300 marks for 3 hours duration, second is mains which is a total descriptive paper of 900 marks for 9 hours duration and the last is the interview round of 120 marks in which the candidates reaches after clearing prelims and mains.
