The full form of WBSETCL stands for West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited. It is a state-owned electricity transmission utility company in the Indian state of West Bengal.

What is WBSETCL?

WBSETCL is regulated by the West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC), and it plays a crucial role in ensuring reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers across the state. The company is committed to adopting the latest technologies and practices to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the power transmission system.

WBSETCL is responsible for the transmission of electricity from generating stations to distribution networks, and it operates and maintains the high- voltage transmission network in the state. The company was formed in 2007 after the unbundling of the West Bengal State Electricity Board.

History WBSETCL

With effect from April 1, 2007, the GoWB split the former West Bengal State Electricity Board (WBSEB) into the West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL) and West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL), two operationally independent state-owned corporations. The transmission of electricity from power plants to load centres via a transmission network running at 400kV, 220kV, 132kV, and 66kV across West Bengal is the responsibility of WBSETCL. The Electricity Act of 2003 envisages three separate functional tasks, all of which WBSETCL is now doing.

On their official website, the West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL) has announced WBSETCL Recruitment 2023 for 81 Graduate and Technical Apprentice positions. Participants may submit an application for the WBSETCL Vacancy 2023 between January 6, 2023 and January 31, 2023.

Education Background-

 Points to be kept in mind-

• Only those who completed their Graduation/Diploma in Electrical Engineering in the years 2020, 2021, and 2022 are allowed to apply.
• Only applicants who sign up with the National Apprentice Training Scheme (NATS) portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in) and apply for "West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited" from the establishment list using their NATS login ID by 31.01.2023, will be considered for selection as Apprentices.
• Candidates who have previously completed or are currently doing Apprenticeship Training or who are currently employed elsewhere are unable to apply.

Age Restriction-

The date of birth stated on the Birth Certificate issued by the Competent Authority / Certificate or Admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent exam shall be used. Other forms of verification of date of birth will not be accepted.

How to Apply-

• The interested and qualified candidates must register in the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) web portal and apply for "West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited" from the establishment list in the said portal using their NATS login ID by January 31, 2023. (up to 4.00 P.M.). 
• Candidates must update their information on the NATS site, particularly their Name, Mobile Number, E-mail ID, Percentage of Mark, Father's Name, Community/Caste, and Year of Passing.

Training Period-

The overall duration of the training will be 12 months, beginning on the date of completion of the Apprenticeship Contract.
